A devastating road crash on 9 January resulted in two fatalities and nine injuries, including children, after a car collided with a pick-up truck before plunging into a roadside ditch. The crash occurred on the Trang-Satun highway in Thung Phanhan Village, Thung Yao Subdistrict, Palian District, Trang Province.

At the scene, police discovered a silver Toyota Vios car, its wreckage strewn along the roadside after it had fallen into a ditch. A blue Toyota pick-up truck was also found nearby, badly damaged. Two people were confirmed dead at the scene, while nine others, including two children, suffered serious injuries. Emergency services transported the injured to Palian Hospital for treatment.

Initial investigations revealed that the car, carrying five passengers, was travelling towards Trang when the driver suddenly veered into the path of the pick-up truck, which was headed to Satun with six passengers. The impact caused the car to fall into the roadside ditch, resulting in the deaths of two female passengers.

The male driver and two other passengers, one of whom was a child, from the car were critically injured. Similarly, the driver and passengers in the pick-up truck, including one child, also sustained severe injuries.

The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, with authorities working to piece together the events leading up to the collision.
