Popular Post Georgealbert Posted January 10 Popular Post Posted January 10 Picture and video from Facebook. Three rowdy tourists were escorted off a Nok Air flight after being caught vaping mid-air, shocking fellow passengers on board. The incident occurred on January 5 on flight DD-532, travelling from Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok to Phuket International Airport. Footage captured by a passenger shows one of the men casually vaping and using his phone during the flight. Another reportedly hid in the aircraft’s toilet to vape, ignoring strict aviation safety regulations. The obnoxious behaviour did not go unnoticed, as other passengers alerted cabin crew when the cabin began filling with a sickly-sweet odour. One witness, Neeranoot Meuankid, said: “I noticed them being noisy at the gate and saw them vaping in the boarding queue. During the flight, the smell became overwhelming, even through my mask, and I started feeling dizzy.” Neeranoot also noted that one of the men disregarded the safety demonstration and refused to wear his seatbelt during take-off. She filmed the incident as evidence and handed it over to flight attendants, who tackled the situation. Upon landing in Phuket, the three tourists were detained by police and escorted off the aircraft. They were held for investigation at the airport police station. No details on the nationalities, identities or any possible charges has been released by authorities. Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited on all domestic and international flights. Vaping has also been banned in Thailand since 2014, although such products are still widely available for purchase. Neeranoot added: “It’s 2025, everyone must know you can’t smoke on planes. Their behaviour was reckless and disrespectful to the safety and comfort of others.” -- 2025-01-10 ScreenRecording_01-10-2025 06-14-16_1.mp4 4 11 3 1 5

Dizzy with righteous indignation no doubt. Quote Neeranoot also noted that one of the men disregarded the safety demonstration and refused to wear his seatbelt during take-off. Well, given that importation and use of vaping equipment itself is illegal... punishable by up to 30,000THB fine and potentially imprisonment in some cases (the cap for sentencing is 10 years) -- breaking the law and being a jerk could land you in serious trouble. It depends on whether the authorities bother to care about it, or maybe just takes the easy way out of deportation and blacklisting (saving money on imprisonment). So vaping, possession of vaping equipment, importation of vaping equipment, use of such equipment covered under smoking on a flight... are all against the law and each of those are punishable by fines and/or imprisonment. Use of the equipment on a Thai flight is also punishable by deportation and blacklisting. Of course, maybe it can be made to all go away for a serious contribution to the police tea fund (but it would not be cheap - and may require family support to raise the funds). 2 1 2 4
