It is clear that vaping is forbidden just a smoking, but detaining someone for it???? Better put him on a blacklist that he can't fly for a few years...

Nah. A max time in jail is a fitting punishment for antisocial idiots ( without access to nicotine products ).

PLUS banned from flying for life.

It would take a person of imbecilic excess to not expect detainment for an act like this.

Are you impugning the integrity of Thai Police?

Police arrest 4, seize drugs, vape pods

They found vapes being sold in Thailand containing methamphetamine and heroin, "happy water" drugs, ecstasy, ketamine, crystal methamphetamine and nimetazepam.

When I smoke flower grown on my patio, I know EXACTLY what's in it.

Vapes?  You have no idea.

Trust me.  I've made THC vapes before using an extract I made myself from shake.  It was mostly glycerin and maybe 10% extract.  It was just as powerful as store-bought vapes.  Even the vapes they claim is 100% wax, how do you really know?  The metals used in vape coils can be very toxic and transfer to the vape.

And anyone that vapes on an airplane is a moron.

Walking down the street, riding in a taxi, bus, boat or train--so what?

There's fresh air.

On a plane there's no fresh air.  You're polluting other people's breathing air.

That's gross and stupid. 🤔

I dont doubt it, it was inevitable really,

In this instance, however, in this case its irrelevant the guy is clearly holding a disposable vape, not the pods or cartridges you would use for weed or any other drug.

anyone claiming that he is vaping anything beyond nicotine is just plain silly and if it were something stronger he would not have been hitting it consistently throughout the flight without some discernable effect.

Could have been worse.  It was lot worse for poor Mr. Gutierrez...

SAN FRANCISCO - United Airlines recently banned a man from flying on their aircraft after he allegedly urinated on another passenger.

According to SFGATE, Jerome Gutierrez was traveling in business class on UA Flight 189 from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Manila, Philippines, on Dec. 27 when a man got up from his seat about four hours into the flight and began peeing on him, his stepdaughter said.

United bans man from flight after he allegedly urinates on passenger: ‘Soaked from his stomach down’ | FOX 11 Los Angeles

You'd think the guys flying Business Class would behave better...

The guy(s) in the OP were idiots, but they didn't kill the Lindbergh baby.  Or pee on fellow passengers.  And they didn't do anything we don't see countless times a day on the BTS, MRT, in restaurants and other public venues.  But we've been fear mongered since 9/11 to believe that the slightest infraction on an aircraft is a big deal.

Like I said in a previous post...  On a scale of 1-10, their bad behavior rates about a 2 or 3.

In a restaurant, BTS MRT or bus, you can get up and get off.  It is challenging to do that on a plane.

Would you feel the same if you had an allergy or were on the Vancouver to BKK flight and had to smell that crap the whole trip?

It has very little to do with 9/11 but has a lot to do with self-respecting and respecting others around you.

I don't think they have made vaping illegal in Thailand yet- just the importation of the equipment. That seems to be why it is on sale so widely.  The sellers are not the importers and just pay off the police.   Thais are not arrested for vaping.  It is just a shake down for foreign tourists.

Vaping is completely banned in the kingdom

Yes, vaping has been banned in Thailand since 2014. The mods, juices and disposable vapes are categorically prohibited.

There is no excuse. Even proving that you brought the vape for personal use isn’t acceptable to authorities. If they catch you, you are in trouble.

2. You could go to jail for vaping or possessing the vape

There are various kinds of penalties. Being caught vaping or even with a vape in your possession could cost you 30,000 Baht (910 USD) fine or/and a jail sentence of up to 5 years.

Luckily, there are no known incidents of somebody going to jail for 5 years for vaping to the full extent; When people get caught, they are forced to pay a bribe to the police, or spend a few days in jail and pay an actual fine.

Plenty of Thai nationals have been arrested for selling equipment
