Very insightful although sometimes mental illness/impulse control/psychosis is at the root, also alcoholism can bring out the worst in people. Some people are OK until they have one drink. To expand on your point, that role model is interpreted on a deep level to represent the way people who love each other behave to each other. Nonetheless, it's reprehensible cowardly behavior.

Please, its not a biggie! There are freaks who beat their wives/gfs, she did the right thing, and I hope the SoB will get his "reward".
