Is that not a contradiction in terms?

Crimes like that, are Nearly Decimalized out there... 1

I flew back into Thailand from Heathrow on Monday …hardly any backpacker types boarding ,just the usual old skool boys but lots of young skinny track suit wearing ,man bag carrying youngsters. They are flocking here for the weed and many stay as long as they can posting the weed back to the UK. The California market can only compete on cannabis quality for now but the Thai imports to the UK are far cheaper. 1 2

Let's kick them out. And go back to pandemic-day tourist immigration controls. Everyone needs to have a test before boarding aircraft bound for Thailand. Not a COVID test, this time.... Just an IQ test. An IQ test by who?? Oh! You mean by officials on passengers flying to Thailand? Good idea as long as the test is not carried out by officials already in Thailand.
black tabby12345 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 The headline says: Pattaya Beach, known for its stunning coastline and electrifying nightlife... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Forget Not to Add: All sorts of Daily Incidents involving tourists/aliens(legal and the illegal alike).
sambum Posted January 17 Posted January 17 5 hours ago, What to do now said: Thailand will continue to have issues with disturbances until they crack down on the offenders. People with overstay are the only ones who seem to get banned. How about getting serious with violent and trouble making tourist. Rarely hear about them getting more than a fine and forced public apology. I love Thailand and I want it to prosper. But until the politicians in Thailand worry less about 'losing face' , and send a clear message ( through actions ) that violent and threatening behavior will absolutely not be tolerated it will continue. Yes, they need to get their priorities in order. The few overstayers are usually not of the trouble making kind, the "real" criminals probably don't report every 90 days anyway. Violent and threatening behaviour seem to go hand in hand with alcohol/yabba type drugs, and it does seem to be that it is a certain type of individual that acts this way. I (and many of my friends) have been hardened drinkers for many years (I am approaching 80 years old) and apart from one incident in my teenage years (that involved cannabis, washing up liquid, dye, and a fountain in our City Centre) have never been involved in any kind of trouble - violent or otherwise. So, yes, the RTP/Law Enforcement agencies should concentrate more on the real threats to society. Give them a decent wage and they will be less inclined to ask for backhanders to let troublemakers walk free, and troublemakers should be made accountable for their actions - a slap on the wrist and a wai is obviously not a sufficient deterrent for some of these "head cases".
black tabby12345 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 officials concerned about the city’s reputation. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Which kind of Reputation they are worrying about losing on earth? Altercations, robbery, murder, rip-off... all getting part of the daily scenery there. Red Light District embedded with booze and sex trade can hardly go without incidents(some exceptions depending on the country though). Especially, after the government extended Open Door Policy to 93 nationalities.

The only thing over stretched is the uniform of that portly traffic cop that stands just before Pattaya Tai on Second road nailing all the foreigners with no helmets and licenses. I highly doubt he is ever without cash to keep his weight up......

spidermike007 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 After while you begin to ask yourself why is Pattaya always in the news, and I think the answer is that it is still the capital of the sex industry in Thailand, and it tends to attract a lot of low life types. 1

PumpkinEater Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Thailand is slowly becoming like “Western UNcivilization”. Fighting, disrespect of laws and each other… And what should we expect from generations growing up in war torn countries (And coming to Thailand) with no regard for human civility. Grow up witnessing killing, corruption, and lawlessness, and this is what we become. Thank our war machine (money making) politicians for this. Sad that the local charm of Thailand is slowly diminishing from this riff raff. Cheers

I don't need to ask myself. Pattaya is 'always in the news' because stories about Pattaya garner more clicks, for whatever reason. Pattaya is the 15th most visited city in the world by international tourists, just behind Phuket at #14. Of course there will be incidents like this, with millions of tourists visiting and intent on cutting loose while on vacation and having a good time. This story is a good example of your 'Pattaya always in the news'. Some drunks in a 'brawl'. Really a nothing story--and would be a nothing story in other popular tourist places like Miami or Vegas. But, so far it has produced 3 pages of comments on Asean Now--with a significant number of the comments not on the 'brawl' at all but objecting to Pattaya's beach being called 'stunning'. Arguably a more important story in the same news feed, regarding the arrest of a Chinese tourist for suspected human trafficking, has, as of this writing, produced zero comments.

I think that we can all agree that there may only be one aspect of Pattaya that can be called stunning, and that's the occasional 22-year-old that you run into!

There's plenty that's stunning in Pattaya. For much of it, though, you need to get away from the touristy areas. Although, even with that, I'm of the opinion, having had a condo with a beautiful Pattaya beach and shoreline view, that the beach, if maybe not stunning, is still quite attractive with the improvements that have been made. I certainly enjoyed looking at it from my balcony with my morning coffee and an evening drink with the sunset, watching the lights come on in the shoreline highrises.

NobbyClarke Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Such a shame for LOS and the Thailand people. Unfortunately, the more people living there will enhance the problem. Chinese, Russian and Indians with lots of brown envelopes are ruling, as such, they think the rules do not apply. I still believe LOS is the most magnificent country in the World and these things always get sorted eventually. 1

In Pattaya, Soi Buakow and surrounds is full of them. Hopefully “climate change” hikes air ticket prices beyond affordability for these undesirable oiks. 1
