January 20, 20251 yr @Wyabcp I sent you a pm earlier. You posted that you have equivalent 800k Thai baht in UK bank account. Good plan. Enter Thailand with the Non O.. Then open Thai bank account. Suggest Kasikorn a good option. Transfer asap funds from UK account to Thai account. For 12 month extension you are not required to show funds came from abroad. Make sure you discuss with your UK bank regarding transfer. They may require OTP as outlined in my PM. Many folk use WISE. That's another topic.
January 20, 20251 yr Author When I went into 4 of the main bank branches in BKK and inquired about setting up a bank account, they all said that pre-requisite for setting up a bank account was, UK ID (driving license), Non O visa, and a permanent Thai address. I will have the UK ID and correct visa, however for the address, will it be possible to use a hotel address if they can provide a TM30 ? thanks

As I advised in pm. Tell bank that you are looking for somewhere to lease. Yes provide TM30. If unsuccessful ask bank if a "certificate of residence" is satisfactory. Where will you be located and opening bank account..

I plan to process this all in Bangkok, the banks (4 or 5 of them) I spoke to were all on the same floor in the emquartier mall, phrom phong. Where would i get a certificate of residence ?

Up until recently they did not provide a COR without you having made a 90 day report. Fortunately that is no longer a requirement. You attend immigration and apply for the COR. Hopefully a TM30 will be sufficient. The COR is sent out via mail and takes approx 5 days. Cost 200b

Hmm, I suggest that you keep a weather eye on the GBP:THB exchange rate. A single Wise transfer of £18,000 will only yield 747,850.64 THB at this precise moment in time, for instance.
