Benjamin arrives at the logical conclusion regarding taxes
Some members have crunched the numbers for pensions, from different countries around the world. Basically, most pensions, if all of that pension is remitted each month, goes over the tax free threshold. As for "seek and find" make having a Clearance Certificate part of the documents required at extension time. No seeking, no finding. Farang go to the TRD like sheep. Yes, I know, rocket science for the Thai government. I'm sure there's no way they would have thought about it. You are forgetting there are some foreign high wealth individuals in Thailand. Not every expat retiree is a pensioner living on nothing. I don't trust you, because you are like the many that think this will all go away, and whilst I hope it does, I don't think it will. Time will tell. -

Is It worth Paying NI Top-up?
Though I don’t know the meaning of SPA, I would be interested to know why exactly would paying for years between 2006 and 2016 (assuming that you would need some of those years to get the required number for a full pension) would not increase your entitlement. Again why do you say that. I certainly needed 35 years according to the DWP to qualify for a full pension and I can assure you I started working in the last century. This is of course a minimum and contracted out years will be excluded or extend the number required as in your case. -

O-A multi-entry visa from UK insurance and bank balance oddities
O-A doesn't seem to make sense. Why two insurance policies? A very small list of their buddies on the make for one policy. Their website is full of irrelevant twaddle about the very excellent king (who we all love BTW), a message from the ambassador etc. Do they actually want us to come to Thailand? It makes you wonder 🤔 -

Furniture/Personal Possessions/Container From UK
...and can involve commercial agents / customs staff playing many games. I imported a small amount of furniture and many boxes of my teaching / subject textbooks. I had found documents which gave import duty rates. but when I went to the airport (with my commercial agent they showed me bound booklets quoting rates which, in every case, were 3 times the rates on the documents I had found. And a bit naughty but i stole one of the bound Thailand Customs Rates books. The unI i was working for instructed one of their admin staff to check the rates, she discovered (as I had) the rates books were fake and the rates were 3 times the official rates. The uni admin lady challenged the customs staff and I was then given a new customs duty bill one third of the original bill. Un lady challenged again threatening to contact the prime ministers office. New bill then reduced by 50% and quite reasonable. But later the uni lady discovered that I should not have paid any import tax. We didn't challenge any more. -
