In the early hours of 17 January, a fire broke out at a chemical storage warehouse and adjoining car port in Soi Romklao 7, Romklao Road, Saen Saep Subdistrict, Min Buri District, Bangkok. Authorities from Romklao Police Station received the emergency call at 03:05 and coordinated with Bang Chan Fire and Rescue Station and Ruam Sai Min Buri Rescue Unit to respond to the incident.

The warehouse, constructed from corrugated metal, housed multiple barrels of chemical preservatives. Flames spread rapidly, fuelled also by leaking vehicle fuel. Firefighters deployed water and foam hose-lines to contain the blaze, managing to prevent further spread within 40 minutes.

Initial reports indicate that four covered pickup trucks, two four-door pickup trucks, and two motorcycles were completely destroyed. However, local residents managed to push two additional pickup trucks to safety. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.

Fire investigators suspect the fire began as a grass blaze that spread to the warehouse and vehicles. Key incident timeline highlights from fire service include:

• 03:05: Authorities received the fire report via a messaging app.

• 03:25: Fire crews arrived on the scene, initially identifying the fire as a grass blaze.

• 03:37: Flames spread to the warehouse and vehicles, with no trapped individuals or injuries reported.

• 03:42: Six vehicles involved in fire and fuel leakage was confirmed. Foam was deployed to control the fire.

• 03:54: The fire was brought under control.

• 04:05: The fire was fully extinguished, with only smoke remaining.

Police summoned the warehouse owner for questioning to determine the cause of the fire. Further inspections by relevant agencies will be carried out.
