'Living abroad'

Since entering government, Labour has pledged that only "very limited information" will be shared with the department under its equivalent plan, but is yet to set out in detail how its system will work.

DWP minister Andrew Western confirmed last year this will include cases where claimants are "living abroad" without notifying the department, although a timeframe for this has yet to be specified.

"In a change from Tory plans, the government has said the new powers will not be used to target payments of the state pension."

That will no doubt come as a huge relief to some on here!

Basic Pension is not means tested so there would be no point snooping to see how much people had in accounts. Of course they would love to make it means tested as pension IS a benefit, despite people wanting to believe its not, but that would be years off.

Benefit Fraud:

According to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), in the 2023/24 financial year, approximately £7.4 billion

Tax Evasion:

His Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC) estimates that in the 2022/23 financial year, the overall tax gap—the difference between the amount of tax that should theoretically be collected and what is actually collected—was £39.8 billion

Tories are on to it.......!

Kemi Badenoch, leader of the Conservative Party, has indicated that the party may consider means-testing the state pension triple lock. The triple lock ensures that the state pension increases annually by the highest of average earnings growth, inflation, or 2.5%. In an interview with LBC, Badenoch stated, “We’re going to look at means-testing… I’m someone who always said, for example, that millionaires should not be getting the winter fuel payment.”

Well that bitch won't get a chance to do it until 2029. Hate Corbyn but he is the only one who had a pledge to unfreeze pensions in 2019 election.

Angela Rayner criticized the frozen pensions as unfair when she was just an MP a few years ago but since she's been in office the issue hasn't been mentioned.
