My point is that most electricity in Thailand is produced by burning oil, gas, cool.

Only 0,59 % comes from vind or sun. The so called " renewable" souses.

So why go to the trouble to use that.

It produces a lot of co2 just to get all charging stations in place. And to increase capacity everywhere.

If all people in the world would use EV/BVE all known copper in the world wouldn't be enough. The same with a whole bunch of other metals. Not enough.

Again, has nothing to do with BEV or owners of.  More to do with govt, way behind and people simply not caring.

Every roof in TH should have solar.  That's just common sense.

Many of the owner's of EV on AN do have solar; off grid, off grid but conx, JIC (us), or supplement their electric with solar.

I find those that are the most vocal and critical of BEV, environment issues from energy and or pollution, seem to be the most hypocritical, since not having solar themselves.

Not rocket science, just common sense.

BEV are simply more environmentally better, and when paired with solar, well ... nuff said

Oh my, we have a new candidate! Normally when you post claims you are supposed to back them up. Where on earth do you get you 0.59% renewable number from?? It's closer to 16% in 2024.

Hilarious. How much copper is in an LFP battery? Any figures for that? Must be a lot right if all the copper in the world isn't enough.

Times are hard for car sales.................down how much % now~? anyway its a lot,  yeah yeah electric cars blah up up up but getting up from a low percent is easy. Last year we sold 1  car this years its 4 .......sales up 400% etc etc

Electric  cars aside.....Told   quite few dealers (ALL CONDUCTED IN THAI) Wife wanted a Toyota Corolla  Cross Premium Deluxe and give me their best cash ONLY price........... those that bothered to answer "their" facebook ads  came back with the wrong  car model numerous times, then those advertising the right model never had it even when the ad was an hour old ( its just a lure) that one sold already.......

Then there were the two who asked me to come see the car in person and one of them didnt even have the right model in stock when I arrived (45 minute drive) and insisted I come look at the "beautiful" model down which was just a  10 minute drive away..............try 40km at another branch of theirs and a good 30 minutes, and still the wrong model .

Numerous unreturned  calls then one offer of 100k off as changing from NiMh batteries to Li-Ion ( not  fussed about that at least it wont burn NiMh)

Joined the Corolla Facebook page and posted what I wanted and what I wanted to pay maximum...............got laughed at by some members then deluged with crap from many "dealers" offering very little off and saying  they had ex  demo cars with few km on......yeah right try 5800km, i wouldnt call that a  few.

Finally  (week or so of looking phoning messaging)...........found a new one 0km, spec i asked for, colour and trim  for 970k baht Made in July 24, list1,204000, ....told  them no fripperies required.

Moral of story.........They couldnt sell gold if it was free and if I was Mr Toyota I'd be appalled, but  some good  deals  around with considerable effort and time wasted.

Pretty sure Toyota doesnt let them advertise ANY discount so to get round it they sell a  few as " demonstrators" anything from 100km to 5-6000 and still more than I was  willing to pay.

Lets  not mention test drives " no have" for some dealers..........hmmmmm but you want me to spend 1.2million and cant try it.

Collecting car tomorrow.

Personally I think the things a fat underpowered slug with a "stunning" 98hp Atkinson cycle engine and piss  poor  electric motor when the Australians get a 2.0  with way more hp..........hers  happy though, <deleted>wagon awaiting collection

You have to head for the door with your money and let them call you back. It works for me after I show them the cash.

Did you know a Hybrid car is 130 times more likely to catch fire than an EV?

youd   argue black was white wouldnt you............... A QUESTION mark after my "you paid  full sticker [price " means duh what??? Its asking did you pay  full sticker price, dont bother  arguing go bugga   off somewhere else and bore them sheiteless instead

The question mark means I was asking YOU the question ?

You claimed I paid sticker price for the car.... So I was asking YOU, what price I paid for the car as it seems you think you know everything.....

You see... if you are going to start criticising the comments people have made, its best not to do so from the starting point of complete ignorance.

So... I'll ask you again, just to see if you comprehend the point this time.

Did I ???  [pay full sticker price for the car].... OK then, how much did I pay ???? you seem to know everything.

---------

You see... You've wanted to levy some sort of accusation that I've been gullible and ripped off and I'm a 'salesmans wet dream'... but don't know what car I purchased, you don't know how much I paid - You don't know anything, which is why your accusation is 'stupid'.....      Now, if you still struggle to grasp that simple concept It can't be understand for you.

I also feel the same about a test drive.

Going up the road and back you can hardly get a feel for the car.

Renting a vehicle  for a few days if available is always a good idea.

I understand why you have avoided certain Manufacturers but interested why Honda is included as always been happy with their vehicles

Renting for a weekend is a good idea.....  but again, I'm not really that bothered - its just a car.

But, I like something that I can fit into, that has sensible storage space. A reliable (honest) dealership if (when) something goes wrong etc...

I had a CRV a while ago...    A car hit the door and damaged the electric window motor... It took longer than a month for something so simple to be fixed and I was shunted around from Garage to Garage and in doing so wasted a lot of time.

Also when looking at a new Honda I wanted to 'sit in the car' (accord) just to see if I 'fit' - the sales people couldn't be bothered and wouldn't get the keys so I could turn on the ignition and move the electric seats. I tried the same with a CRV, the same thing, I was unable to adjust the seats so I coudn't even get in (after a tiny Thai had been in before hand)  I just walked out.... sales completely disinterested.

Walked into Ford - knowing their service history was poor (But Wife knows someone high up there), took a test drive, liked the car even though it felt a bit like a 'barge' (Fortuna)..  started negotiating on model, extras etc etc the sales guy was very good and answered all my technical questions...

... then another sales lady (more senior took over), she couldn't answer my questions, tried to sidestep them and distract from the questions I had, she then started talking only to my Wife and then also interrupting every discussion my Wife and I were having....   after 3 times of being rudely interrupted, I pointed this out, and told her quite firmly... "do not interrupt me again while I'm talking with my Wife".... the Sales lady seemed so 'excited to push the sale' she had no self control and interrupted us yet again... there was nothing for me to do....  I just got up and walked off and went and sat in a Raptor with my Son while my wife explained - that the 'guy had the sale and she sabotaged it'....

We did buy a car that day from Mazda - excellent sales, excellent service - We've since sold it, but Mazda were on my list of 'new cars' to get recently - but they just didn't have a model that I wanted.

In Thailand they do interrupt ,i have noticed that many times but as English is not their main language i always accept that,
I would never go as far as saying as you put it

Seems like you are getting cars mixed up as you said you sat in a Fortuna at the Ford garage?

Made me smile you went and sat in a Raptor in a hissy fit  while you let you wife sort out the deal.

Just bought a new car - but not a Toyota and not an EV (as we have a specific need for our business that makes EV's impractical) and it was a simple and pleasant experience.

Started at the Motorshow - great to be able to hop in and out of all the options in one day.  Visited the dealers for the shortlist and arranged test drives.

Line conversations followed -  negotiating the best deal, offered a good discount, then took an extended test drive in the favourite model.

Was able to choose the actual car from three in their warehouse (they told us the manufacturing date of each one).

3 days later, on an 'auspicious date' they had our car prepared with all extras added and up on a lift so I could inspect underneath.

Flowers, bow, freebies, briefing on all the buttons and screens, then we were off for our first trip.

But it was not a Toyota.  I know Toyota have the best resale values in Thailand, but we keep our cars years and they have to travel to and on farms, so resale value is irrelevant to us.

There's so much uncertainty in the market now, plus over-supply - so there's some great deals out there .... just not on a Toyota.

My wife had already asked her not to interrupt….  By that stage I’d had enough…

Correct - I mixed it up, it was an Everest.

Me too…. I just can’t be bothered with that stuff once a line has been crossed…. I’ll just walk away….
….sat in the Raptor with my son & played with the toys !

Wife dealt with the rest which was more polite than I would have been.
