parafareno Posted 8 hours ago Author Posted 8 hours ago i dont need visa... i am from eu so I get 2 months plus extension right? total 3 months? 1 1
Jack1988 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago 9 minutes ago, parafareno said: i dont need visa... i am from eu so I get 2 months plus extension right? total 3 months? you can come without a visa but it is recommended you get an onward ticket flight to show to the airline prior to boarding, so they can see that you will leave the country later. It's the airline that want like that, before you fly to thailand. You can buy a cheap onward ticket, from thailand to a nearby asian country, very easy You could also buy ticket from some thai or asian airlines but it will cost you more. It's up to you 1 1

There is no definitive answer, as many people will tell you yes as will tell you no. But even asking the question suggests you already knew that. 1
DrJack54 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago OP, your question comes up often. Some discussion here. https://aseannow.com/topic/1318022-do-you-really-need-an-onward-flight/ You can buy a "rent a ticket" here is one of many companies "onwardticket.com" approx $16 usd. You can but cheapest throw away ticket approx 2k baht. You can hope airline does not ask and if they do step away and use one of first 2 options. Obviously you would need internet. 1
parafareno Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago i visited thailand at least 10 times and never did airline on the plane ask me to show the ticket....never seen that 1 1
KhunBENQ Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago If the flight is overbooked you are welcome for denied boarding. No return, no visa for 90 days? Remember that US airline which paid premiums to their boarding agents for every guest "caught" with some violation that brings money (mostly baggage affairs though). Ages ago I had a 32 day return ticket and had to shorten/rebook on the spot for a significant amount.

Here are the facts....some folk report NEVER being asked for onward flight with history of many flights to Thailand visa exempt. Many say they have been asked by the airline at departure. Myself being one. There is the answer to your question. You may be asked for onward flight. Enquire with your airline. Edit: I just now did a dry run booking throw away DMK to Saigon. 2100b. Took under 2 minutes to get to payment. Indeed step away and book flight a good plan B

Better to be safe than sorry. 1

So you plan visa exempt 60 days plus 30 extension. Then border run and redo? At the second entry you should definitely be prepared with return or onward.
KhunBENQ Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago 1 minute ago, Woke to Sounds of Horking said: Yes, but there is always a chance the airline will ask. Better to be safe than sorry. Exactly. You are depending on arbitrary decisions of the check-in /boarding staff. 1

Agree, however given the OP stating he has never been asked in 11 trips previously he could just step aside and book a throw away if required. I just tried now and it took under 2 mins. 2k

They wont let you leave the plane? I mean it is ridiculous....

But by the rules you would need onward/return at immigration(!) and they can hold you and send you back with the airline that brought you (which then will hold you accountable). Rule loosely/rarely enforced. Less likely than airline refusing you to fly/board at all.
DrJack54 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 29 minutes ago, parafareno said: so what can happen if they ask you and you dont have it? They wont let you leave the plane? I You are getting mixed up. Flying to Thailand visa exempt it is the airline at departure that MAY ask for onward flight.. On arrival in Thailand airport immigration will not ask for onward flight (they can but won't) with your history. No reason to go to Philippines unless you want to. As I have posted twice in the thread if airline request onward flight you can step to the side and book a throw away. Under 2 mins. DMK to Saigon one example 2k baht.

BKK Immigration wouldn't let me in unless I bought an outbound ticket right there and then. And I had a tourist visa.

Did you post this experience on AseanNow. Would be of significant interest.. Where did they take you to book this onward flight? Did you have significant history in Thailand meaning back to back tourist visas.
johnnybangkok Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I've just had my nephews arrive last week and both of them only had one way tickets and got in no problem without onward flights. BUT I think most posters here agree it's a bit of a lottery with some airlines requiring onward flights and some immigration officials wanting it too so I think first check with your airline and then as one poster mentioned above, be prepared to book an onward flight IF you get asked at customs. 1

Immigration officer refused me entry on my second inbound trip on the METV. The interaction started routine and polite then suddenly he started asking me questions about purpose of my trip and suddenly raised his voice. 2. Yes, one of my first posts on this forum. 3. After the immigration officer yelled at me, he called the IO supervisor, he took me at the back wall where I was questioned and was told I needed to purchase an outbound flight, and that I needed an OA visa on next entry. I booked the flight on my phone and show the booking to the supervisor. 4. I stayed 55 days on first entry on the METV. Prior to that I stayed 45 days on visa exempt a four months before. Total time in Thailand over four years prior to this incident was less than 140 days.
parafareno Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago also isnt throwaway ticket illegal? Can they check if it is valid?
DrJack54 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 4 minutes ago, parafareno said: also isnt throwaway ticket illegal? Can they check if it is valid? A throw away ticket is a real ticket. Not illegal. Means you just don't use it. A "rent a ticket" is a ticket valid for short period eg 48 hrs. Not illegal and satisfies airline requirements

parafareno Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago so lets say i use https://dummyticket247.com they are valid only 48 hours? they cost 12 usd which is really nothing....

In 20 years flying two or three times a year, I have been asked. Last visit November 2024. Just saying, not trying to argue!
