These are the prices Lifecare quoted me, which is about double of Somdej hospital.

Assuming the Thyroid test can be done separately, I think the best option is to have all tests done at the hospital and the thyroid test at Lifecare.

Total cholesterol 60
Lipid panel 260 ( Total chol included)
Creatinine and BUN 120
HbA1c 350
TSF Thyroid (TSH 350)
LFT Liver enzymes 350
CBC 200
PSA 700
Urinalysis 150

Total 2480 baht

The 700 baht lifecare lab package 4 works out cheaper for many of those items

Good catch, if I take the 700 baht package and add the items that aren't included the total is 2100 baht.

To take in consideration, given that I don't have to drive to Sriracha twice, once for the test, and second time to pick up the results

how does hard work kill people? more likely drink, bad food and smoke?

Agree. Thai father-in-law was once a coach driver for Chan Tour. Later in life he sold his house and bought a small farm. Wasn't very good at it. He liked his drinking and smoking. He owned two Honda Waves. One was always under repair after he fell off whilst intoxicated. Wife wouldn't tolerate him in the bedroom and he slept in a partitioned off corner of the living room. One morning his radio was causing annoyance. He couldn't turn it off because he wasn't with us any longer. He was 71.

Today I went to the hospital for the blood test, and as expected it was a jump through hoops.

I had previously visited the hospital, and got confirmation about all the test, with the price quoted.

I was told that I didn't have to see a doctor, ad no additional tests were needed, but for the Thyroid test it was required to see the doctor. So I had planned to do that test at Lifecare lab, where the Thyroid program is 1400 baht.

Today on arrival I was told they also couldn't do the Hb1Ac test and there was a requirement to have the Xray and Electro Cardio Graph included in the test, which would add 550 baht.

I didn't need to see a doctor, but the doctor fee would be added anyway, which would add another 200 baht.

So it was a clear case of someone making up new rules on the spot. Unfortunately for them, when it comes to making up new rules on the spot, I beat them hands down.

So I went around talking with other departments in the hospital, until I found someone who knew his job.

At the end all tests, including the thyroid test were done, without seeing a doctor (or the fee included), and no additional test required.

Now the blood also was taken directly in the laboratory department, where previously it was to be done in the health care department.

Below is a screenshot of all the tests that were included and the total price ws 1530 baht, which I think is a bargain compared to private labs

The only disadvantage is that I have to go back after 2 hours to pick up the result, because sending it to me by email was still a no no.
