VietJet named one of world’s safest airlines in 2025

VietJet has been recognised as one of the world’s safest airlines for 2025 by AirlineRatings, a global safety and product rating website.

 

The news was confirmed yesterday, January 16 that VietJet ranked alongside leading low-cost carriers such as Ryanair, easyJet, and Frontier Airlines, which have consistently been rated among the top airlines. This achievement highlights VietJet’s commitment to maintaining high safety standards, ensuring confidence and peace of mind for passengers and crew on every flight.

 

AirlineRatings evaluated over 385 airlines globally, using key criteria such as safety records over the past two years, average fleet age, safety audits by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), and other relevant factors.

 

Sharon Petersen, CEO of AirlineRatings.com, noted that VietJet operates the newest fleet in Vietnam and one of the most modern in the Asia-Pacific region. The airline’s excellent safety record over the years reflects its high standards and success.

 

VietJet was awarded a 7-star safety rating, the highest possible, recognising its ongoing dedication to maintaining safety standards since 2018. The airline currently operates a modern and fuel-efficient Airbus fleet, with a technical reliability rate of 99.7%, one of the highest in the aviation industry.

 

 

Last year, VietJet expanded its fleet with ten new aircraft, bringing the total to 115 planes. The airline serves over 170 domestic and international routes, with a commitment to continuous investment in training, maintenance, and engineering to uphold the highest safety standards.

 

VietJet Aviation Academy (VJAA), accredited by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), partners in training skilled aviation personnel. The airline is also recruiting pilots and crew to support its global network expansion strategy.

Very good airline but try getting money back from them and the gloss fades.

I had a flight to Vietnam that I had to cancel for a medical emergency 24 hours before I was due to fly.

Nowhere on the Vietjet website of confirmation to cancel/claim a flight.

Finally found VietJet's head office contact details.

Sent an email explaining all.

They finally responded after a day or two and told me that I booked through VietJet Thai.

Different company.

I explained that nowhere does any of my documentation mention VietJet Thai.

Website, flight confirmation etc all state VietJet.

By now I am  no show, not a cancellation. Ding!!!

Now good! I fly often. Cheapest to fly w 20kg.

One thing's bad for me - FREEZING COLD. I've ski parka on.

Whoever made this claim must be unaware of the dangers of high blood pressure. 90% of the flights I've taken with Vietjet have been delayed.. 😡

usually i book with Air-Asia  ...but total crap now, Air-Asia site is unworkable!

 

pity cos the Air-Asia hostesses are ALL STUNNING BABES!😍

I flew VietJet from Chiang Rai to Phuket in December. First leg in a journey Chiang Rai to Kuala Lumpur and back. Phuket - KL and KL to CEI were Air Asia.

 

I thought that they were very good - and those tartan shorts were cute!

Probably correct in the scheme of things no fatal incidents since it's inception in 2011 most of the unlisted carriers in that safety report have been around a lot longer than that and will have had more serious accidents the worry with Vietjet is they are more recent and not as reliable as the safety report makes them out to be.
June 19 2014: Flight 8861, scheduled from Hanoi to Da Lat, mistakenly landed at Cam Ranh, might just be me but missing an airport seems dodgy its not like its not exactly a set of car keys!

October 16 2014: Flight 8856, operating from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang, landed on the incorrect runway again those runways aren't small

July 12 2019: Flight 615, traveling from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City, entered an incorrect taxiway upon landing, causing an approaching aircraft to execute a go-around

June 14 2020: Flight 322, operating from Phu Quoc to Ho Chi Minh City, skidded off the runway during landing at Tan Son Nhat International Airport

No doubts it is a very safe airline and definitely not defaming them in any way I have flew with them myself, no smaller airline should rest on their laurels of subjective safety reports though.
