An incident occurred on the morning of January 24, when a drilling bit detached from a crane rig and struck a worker on the head, resulting in his death. Colleagues of the deceased were left shocked and devastated by the unforeseen incident, mourning the loss of a hardworking team member.

The incident happened at approximately 10:30 on a road near a factory under construction in Moo 3, Tha Sao Subdistrict, Krathum Baen District, Samut Sakhon Province. Police Lieutenant Atsadawut Eiadkaew, a deputy investigator from Krathum Baen Police Station, along with medical staff from Krathum Baen Hospital and rescue personnel from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, authorities found the body of a 59-year-old worker, Mr. Prasit, employed in the installation of utility poles. The victim suffered severe head injuries caused by the impact of a heavy object. Nearby, was the a drilling rig device still attached to a crane with the drill bit detached and on the ground near the body.

Initial investigations revealed that, as the victim was working the bolts connecting the drill’s motor to the drill bit, when it became loose. This caused the drill bit to fall from the crane and strike him on the head, crushing his skull.

The police have arranged for the body to be transported to the hospital for further examination. Relatives of the deceased have been contacted to arrange traditional funeral rites. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
