Yesterday, my notebook warned me about some importabt updates on Windows 11.
But on the update screen, an exclamation sign appeared and warned me to buy a new version of Windows 11 as my version reached the "end of updates.".
I went to the Microsoft site, and the end of updates was after 2 years of installation.

So, I would need to reinstall Windows 11 and all the software again OR wipe Windows completely from ho hard disk and install Linux (which was already my plan long ago).
I can keep Windows on an USB drive with the programs I might occasionaly and are not available on Linux.
What would your option be?

Just update Windows 11 as normal if it's licenced. No need to buy anything. You are on version 22H2. You need to update to 23H2 or 24H2.

It's an update via the Windows Update Manager.  It should self install.  If not, go to Update Manager and look for the update to the most current release and manually kick it off.

But it supports update to newer version as others described and millions of user do routinely.

Otherwise the world would have heard of.

Why it won't on your system?

Is your license or installation method "different".

Had a proper license?

Used any workarounds to install on a non compliant PC?

There are endless tips on update problems.

Don't know what applies to you.

Have you tried this:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/troubleshoot-problems-updating-windows-188c2b0f-10a7-d72f-65b8-32d177eb136c

(what a joke that not even links to Microsoft work😖)

There are a lot of users with the same problem all over Microsoft and Google.

My notebook was supported and I had a legal version of windows 11.

But from version 22H2 up, the system is not supported anymore and thus can not get upgrades.

Buy a new notebook or forget the upgrades.

Read my post again and then take steps to install 23H2 or 24H2. Do I have to tell you again? 😊

Screenshot the page where your Windows 11 installation tells you that your hardware is incompatible. I don't think that you can. I believe that comes from you and not your installation. Stop creating a scenario in your head that doesn't exist in reality. Update to 23H2 or 24H2 and stop wasting everyone's time. 😊

Show us that message on your PC, that confirms your hardware is no longer supported. I don't mean some webpage, I mean an actual message from your Windows installation.

Screenshot that message and post it here. I'm sure that it doesn't state what you try to assert. What was the point of posting something that was simply untrue in the first place?

You are a pathetic man.
The first thing that Microsoft recommends when anyone is getting an "End of Service (WAAS)" is to downlaod the PC Health Check program and run it.
Pathetic to hace a discussion with you.

Here it is, pathetic guy.
I was able to get security update, but not the update to the new version as this is blocked by the "WAAS or End of Service".
You are a PATHETIC LOSER.

Where does it state that you have to buy a new version?

Do you understand that you gave MISLEADING information to us in the first instance? If you tell us that Microsoft suggested that you have to BUY a new version, then it doesn't follow that the hardware will be incompatible.

So you lied about being told that you have to BUY a new version.

My questions were to get to the bottom of what was true and what was not true. Now we know the problem is that you have a (crap) CPU, from 2017. Just outside the official cut-off date.

We would not have known that if I didn't ask the questions.

Of course I have the solution, as will many others here. But I won't be providing it to you due to your behaviour on this thread. It's not that I haven't already told you. But you are obviously your own worst enemy, if that were possible given your behaviour here. Who wants to be abused when trying to help someone?

Calling yourself a PATHETIC LOSER for not being able to update your PC isn't necessary. You certainly could not be referring to the people who can.

Maybe someone else will take pity on you and explain.  But if you continue with your unpleasant behaviour and comments, they might refrain from doing so.

@Confuscious. This is the process I followed to upgrade my Win 11 version to Windows 24H2. My system which also has an unsupported CPU. This hopefully should fix your current issue.

NB. Remember to backup your current setup prior to running the upgrade in case you need to recover.

After the upgrade, normal updates will resume. Good luck. This is essentially what @Centigrade32 has been advising you to do.

Seems to me that the OP's problem is that he's not even on Win11 yet.  He's getting the same message I got when I tried to update from Win10 to Win11.

There's a ton of workarounds all over YouTube and other places on the interwebs to install Win11 on a system for which Microsoft hasn't bestowed its blessings.  My old laptop (that I'm typing this on) is one of those and I'm still using Win10.  My new laptop came with an already aged version of Win11 and it's been automatically updated to 24H2.  Eezy peezy.  And when they release the next update, I expect I'll get updated to that one.  Until they release Win12.

Would they introduce Windows 11 if you are already on it?

The OP has the fitting username, and should stop calling people names, because the only pathetic one in this thread is himself.

Without this glass house guy casting any stones, I wonder if the OP can post back what version of Windows he's actually on, and if it is Win11, which update?

As stated, he's getting the same message I got when I looked into updating from Win10 to Win11.  Though my first message was that my version was soon going beyond the service period.   That was a few years back.   I think Win10 is beyond that now...

It's because he is running the PC health check. See image below of me running the PC Health Check. I'm on Windows 11 24H2.

That's a good catch, but there's still conflicting information from the OP.

First, he's claiming Microsoft wants him to BUY a new version.  They're actually asking him to GET a new version.  For me, there was no charge updating from 22H2 to 24H2.

He also shows a message superimposed on his PC Health Check screenshot that his PC doesn't meet the requirements for Win11.

Rather than guess and speculate, it would be handy to know his actual configuration.

Please see Mutt Daeng post earlier, this works, as I said earlier I have done this on 3 unsupported PC's

Yes I agree, it would be better if the OP could simply inform us what version of Windows he has.

As for the OP showing his PC doesn't meet Windows 11 requirements, see image from my pc running Windows 11 24H2. I didn't run the check in the first image. The image was to show the "Introducing Windows 11" message even though I am already on Windows 11, which was mentioned by @CallumWK.

Why do you need to call other people names and throw UNFOUNDED ACCUSATIONS when you don't know anything about Windows?
You (and many others) state yourself that you got the same message, but used a WORKAROUND to fool Microsoft on installing the upgrade on an unsupported system by disabling the compatibilty check on Upgrading to the new 23H2/24H2 versions.
I still get the Windows 11 Security upgrades and Windows 11 other ugrades.
Simply because Windows 11 has not reached yet the EOL (End Of Life) state yet.
But I will not get the Windows 11 Version upgrade anymore because Windows 11 has reached the EOS (End Of Service) state.

The WAAS (Windows As A Service) has decided to end the service but that is not the EOL of my operating system.

I know very well that there are tons of workarounds on the Internet which are meanly disabling the compability check on Upgrade (appraiserres.dl).
But that is only fooling yourself and risk loss of data as Windows is warning for this.
If it would be so easy, why is Microsoft dumping their Surface Laptops which reached the EOS state at dumping prices?

Microsoft requires a processor of the 8th generation for the 23H2/24H2 version of Windows 11 and trying to run Windows on an older processor will run you into troubles.
As you can see in the screenshot of Mutt Daeng, he uses a processor of the 6th generation.
Just like trying to mount a V8 engine in an old Trabby.

I am tired to get the FALSE ACCUSATIONS of members in here who display only their IGNORANCE on this subject and resort to throw unfounded tantrums.
