Windows 11, End of service

The original poster mentioned Linux.

 

This laptop is running Ubuntu, a popular flavour of Linux.  I'm running multiple tabs on Chrome, just like I do on my Windows PC.  Linux is open-source, so it's free to use and there are no licences.  It also boots up and runs faster than Windows 1x because it's not bloatware.

 

Before you all rush to convert your computers (did I mention I'm an optimist?), be aware that occasionally it needs some technical awareness, e.g. to complete a Chrome update.  It's not difficult, and it's worth it, but I want to be transparent.  Overall, I recommend it, but conditionally.

WHO is asking for ADVICE?
I told in my OP that I made already the decision to install LINUX on my notebook because of the continuous hassle with Microsoft and asked the OPINION of other users on this decision.
I am fully aware of the existing "Cheats" on the Internet to install an upgrade on your system despite the warnings of Microsoft, but that was not what I had in mind.
Of course, some readers here need to get a course on READING ENGLISH.

He reminds me of an old German guy in out village who used to spend his whole day at his computer, reading how people get around the software keys and in the evening he came to the local pub telling his rants to everybody and expecting the consumers to buy hin a drink.

Microsoft Windows keep evolving and is adapting their OS to the new versions of the PROCESSOR, the version 8, which has code for a lot of hardware that was not exsisting 2 years ago.
"C" ports instead of USB ports, SSD instead of physical hard disks, Memory cards, etc.
Using Windows 23H2/24H2 on an older system can lead to data loss or computer malfunctioning.
I take their advice anytime above the "ILL ADVICES" in this group of how to cheat Microsoft.

If your PC is connected to the internet, then you should always install (security) updates!

USB-C, SSD and memory cards weren't existing two years ago? 

You are obviously desperately looking for an angle to justify your behaviour.

USB-C is simply a connector type, from 2014.

SSD are from the '50s. PCIe SSD from 2007

So all of your assertions are totally erroneous.

It's actually quite sad, the way you are behaving. Really just making a fool of yourself. Again, why ask people on the options they would take and then proceed to abuse them and argue with their choices?

Disingenuous untruth.

"Upgrading your notebook to suit Microsoft" was not even mentioned at the time. As far as you were concerned, there was no option to upgrade at all. Only to buy a new version and to run a clean install or to install Linux.

How did you imagine to install this new version if you understood that your laptop was 'incompatible' with Windows 11?

Changes on the registry don't need any exe. It can be done manually or with a text file.

Registry mods are dangerous as you say. So many apps are available that make it easy. Of course it's smart to always back up your registry files before changes; it's in the menu for editing the registry.

 

If you are afraid of your computer then don't install any apps unless you write them yourself.

Going out in big cities at night can be dangerous; best to stay at home.

People die every day on the roads; best to stay home.

Obviously, it's up to each individual what you click and want to do. But don't be surprised if bad things happen.

This is why I warn people here not to do that.

Not what you asked for in your OP, but doesn't matter.

And to my opinion, even you didn't ask for it in OP: If you wish to use Microsoft programs, Windows' or Apple's OS are the best in mentioned order. Linux is great for running Internet-servers with an Apache – likely better than a Win-server – but as home PC, it's not...🙂
