VBF Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I've posted similar to this in the past, but as we all know, "stuff" changes rapidly in Pattaya so please indulge me. I'm looking for live bands. I'm aware of the various "Rolling" bars - not impressed by many to be honest but I did like the band in Rolling on Soi 8 last year and a friend's just messaged me to say they're even better now. Also aware of the place on 2nd Road (nearly opposite Mike's dept. store) although since the Filipina singer left, they've become pretty boring, IMO Likewise there was a place on Soi Diana (Sweethearts I think) last year - might still be there There was also a large place on Soi Bukhau, nearly opposite LK Metro...began with a "B" If anyone remembers the old "Blues Factory" on Walking St, a place like that would appeal greatly. Now I know all this is very subjective but my musical tastes include but not limited to Jazz (30s to 40s), Swing, Jive, Rock 'n' Roll, Blues, R & B (the old version!) some Soul, most styles of Country (AND Western!) Sixties, Punk, most West Indian music (Calypso - Ska - Reggae etc). For 70s onwards, generally more Robbie than Rainbow, Blur possibly, NEVER Oasis. And..... NOT a headbanger!!! I've found, over the years that Filipino / Filipina singers do better with western music than do Thai. Looking for places around mainly central Pattaya, but Naklua and Jomtien also useful. So any recommendations please? 1 1
CanadaSam Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Surprised you didn't mention the Triangle just off Soi Buakhow. Philipino band will play just about anything you ask them to! 1 1

And its just around the corner from where I stay. 😆 And it's on "Soi Pothole" where I've been known to spend the odd hour or 5!! Cant think why I didn't include it - must be my premature senility! 😞 1
Popular Post KhunHeineken Posted January 28 Popular Post Posted January 28 Did you check out the reasonably new Las Vegas place on Soi Diana? It has A/C. You won't know it until you walk through the air curtain. A/C is a reason why I sometimes go to places like Rolling. Also, the place on Soi Buakhao, Matador, which is across from LK. The band at Tuk Tuk Club on LK play late, and are ok. 1 1 1

Over the years, I have always bought the staff member serving me a lady drink towards the end of my session there, and tipped the band, but when it's hot in there, I finish the two beers and leave. 1 2

And...that senility's having a fine time today... when I said "There was also a large place on Soi Bukhau, nearly opposite LK Metro...began with a "B"" I did in fact mean Matador - where are you Nurse? 😩😩😩 See - you answer my question and I provide you with entertainment - fair exchange? Tuk Tuk is completely new to me - another one to try. And thanks for the warning - too hot doesn't usually bother me....we shall see. 1

Las Vegas on Soi Diana is a large establishment. The band is on a large elevated stage. Good band, but you will have no interaction with them. Don't worry about the cost of drinks at all the different bars. They have to all charge the same price, which makes you wonder why anyone bought a bar in there, but that's for a different thread. What about Billabong on LK? Good band, good atmosphere. 1 2

I know what you mean - I used to go to gigs in London during the "Pub Rock" days of the late seventies and eighties, also when Punk surfaced. Being pressed up against the stage watching NEW artists like The Jam or Ian Dury or Elvis Costello or Sex Pistols (all for free!!!) was brilliant - even when you got beer spilled over you and came out reeking of cigarette smoke. Having said that, The Rolling Stones or Status Quo at Wembley were brilliant too - but in their own way. I'm actually quite looking forward to checking out Las Vegas - as I say it'll be new to me.

Rock Factory - that's the other one almost opposite LK I believe. Very sort of "Goth" in appearance? I didn't mention that because the bands on there play the real heavy stuff - Judas Priest for example which is not to my taste.
CanadaSam Posted January 29 Posted January 29 A place called M's Mojito, right on the corner of Beach Road and the Klang Road, the band is pretty good, but the views of the beach/sea are unbeatable! 1 1

That sounds well worth a try. 👍👍 I believe it's right near a huge fish restaurant which is good but pricey (for Pattaya) I think I've walked past it on the way to the restaurant and seen band equipment all covered up. Presumably my timing was out. 1
Espanol Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Lovely Corner https://maps.app.goo.gl/bFvuJaWBJGjn71w87 Live music and beautiful views. 1

Been past there, didn't rate the band then, but given my OP, certainly worth trying again and a very short walk from M's Mojito mentioned above 👍 There could be a plan here.......

Air Conditioning has been installed. They are the large square units hanging from the ceiling that point the cool air in different directions. Maybe it's the time I arrive. Maybe the air conditioning hasn't had time to cool the volume of air in the building. Rather than catch the earlier sets from the band, I might catch the later sets next time and see if it's any cooler. The last time I was there I was sweating. Finished my two beers and left. Haven't been back for a while. I forget if people were smoking inside or not. I'll remember to take not of that next time. 1

There's very few live music venues with air conditioning around the Soi Baukhao area. Las Vegas is one of them. Just makes for a more pleasant session, but it's a big place. I do hope Triangle Bar sort out their a/c. I don't mine paying more for drinks in venues if the a/c is on, as it makes the place more comfortable. 1

A/C venues keep out the motorbike noise, music from neighboring bars, the smoke coming from a BBQ vendor doing the rounds with their cart, as well as dust and mosquitos. I would rather be in an open air venue and put up with all of the above, than in an enclosed venue who do not put the a/c on and it's a sauna. 1

Hopefully, a good rocking band will drown out external sounds 🎸🎸🎸 For listening to live bands, I'm sort of "focussed" on the music and sound quality thereof. (See my earlier comments about pub gigs in London - not comfortable but I'll put up with that if the music is good enough.) If it isn't, then I won't stay anyway - if I'm in a place with a live band I don't like, that becomes more irritating than anything else, so time to move on.

I think you will find most of the decent bands in town these days are Filipino. Nothing wrong with that, either. They are friendly, and come and have a chat with you during a break and ask what music you like.
Ralf001 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 n January 2025, Pattaya has a vibrant live music scene with a mix of venues offering everything from rock to jazz and acoustic performances. Here are some popular spots: The Hard Rock Cafe Pattaya Famous for its rock-themed atmosphere, it regularly hosts live performances, especially in the evenings. Expect rock and pop covers by local and touring bands. The Stones House Pattaya A more intimate setting that focuses on live rock performances, The Stones House often features both local and international musicians. It’s a great spot for rock music lovers. The Blue Sky Bar Known for its chill vibe, this rooftop bar occasionally features acoustic performances and live jazz. It’s a great spot for a laid-back evening with good drinks and music. The PBar Located in the popular Pattaya Walking Street area, The PBar offers a fun mix of live rock bands and DJ sets. It's a lively venue where you can catch bands playing covers and some original tunes. Tiffany’s Show Pattaya While primarily a cabaret, Tiffany’s also occasionally features live performances from musicians. The shows are usually more theatrical, but you can enjoy live music in a high-energy environment. Soho Pub Known for its cozy and relaxed environment, Soho Pub offers live music performances, mostly rock and pop covers, with a friendly atmosphere perfect for a night out. Pattaya Beer Garden This casual outdoor venue by the sea often hosts acoustic performances. It's a great place to enjoy live music with a view of the beach. The Irish Wolfhound Pattaya A classic pub with a strong reputation for live music, particularly Irish folk and classic rock. It’s a friendly and welcoming environment for music lovers. These venues might host different acts, so it’s always a good idea to check their schedule in advance! 1

One of the best used to be on 2nd Rd, late night nearly opposite Mike's Store. She was superb - she could sound just like Tina Turner. not seen her since 2020.

It's always been videos displayed on multiple screens. Is PBar still hosting live acts - are you sure? Irish Wolfhound - thats on Soi 4 Pratumnak, right? 1

Not only do Filipinos sing western songs better, but they are more friendly. The female Filipino singer in the large bar at the back of Tree Town is a good singer. She does a good Tina Turner. Go down the road next to Bangkok Bank, and at the T intersection where you can go straight, which takes you to 2nd Road, or turn right, where there are more Tree Town bars, it's on that corner. You can't miss the bar, or the band. I forget the name of the bar. They play good tunes, and do it well. They take requests, and even ask members of the audience during a break what songs they like. I'll be surprised if you don't like them. 1

Upnotover Posted February 2 Posted February 2 Reggae? I had a very enjoyable night at the Trenchtown bar on Buakhao near Treetown. Small place, band were very good and played of course mostly familiar tunes. Also on LK Metro but haven't been in that one, suspect the same band(s) on rotation.
