Thai senator’s death penalty drama stirs up capital debate

When a police commander, army general or senior politician is given a death sentence for drug dealing, I will support this proposal. There are people in control of the drug trade here that are untouchable.

It might just be easier for the senator to start naming names.

Legalize all drugs then there wouldn't be any victims of drug related crimes. Sadly this will never happen as the corrupt army and BIB generals would lose one very, very big income stream. Also and IMO it's a certainty, that the top corrupt officials would not be amongst those executed under this very draconian suggestion by a complete and utter fool.

It's not just Thailand.  Western countries are the same.  You can't legalize heroin, for example.  Imagine what would happen to a society in which heroin was legalized.

It's not just the legalization, but also the addict still has to buy it.  Are you suggesting the tax payer pays for free drugs for social users and addicts in order to cut crime?

Society would improve. One needs to use progressive thinking when it comes to drug problems in society not draconian measures which clearly do not work.

Start by identifying the cause of drug taking.

How can you stop dealers if you don't know why people take drugs?

Human beings have been trying to alter their state if mind for thousands of years.

How, exactly. would it improve?

I believe drug addiction is a medical issue, but I also believe it's the not victim's fault a crime has been committed against them by someone in desperate need of money for drugs.
