Worst was 1980-1981. I had just been made redundant from my job in Australia (reasons would be a post on its own, but basically my specialism was no longer required after mining plans were changed); i enjoyed a nice long holiday ended up back in the UK, where i thought with my recent experience in environmental monitoring i would at last get the job i was looking for with the water authorities.
How wrong I was! The new Thatcher administration did a hatchet job on the economy (and the water authorities), and i spent 18 months unemployed. No-one would employ a scientist to do mundane retail jobs; there where plenty of less educated people for that. Also house was burgled (twice), the insurance company refused to renew my insurance; housemate got mugged, and 2 race riots took place within one mile of me. Strikes happening all the time. When i did finally get a job (as a civil servant), had to do a 6 week IT course which I struggled with for a while. Then we had one of the worst winters on record in 1981 and my house (empty at the time) suffered severe damage from freezing and snow - pipes burst, toilet cracked, and water penetrated the walls causing massive mould problems. House was for sale at the time and i had to take a loss as no-one would buy it in a riot zone.
If not for fishing and my savings from the Australian work to live on, I would have got utterly depressed.
FBU Manila staff seems to be very poorly trained and either do not understand English well or suffer from very poor reading comprehension. My results in communicating with them have been pretty much useless. After a long wait my email answer from them has rarely been relevant to the questions asked. I have 3 outstanding issues with SSA, some have been ongoing for years. Manila staff cannot seem to understand what is written in the POMS manual for SSA.
Now, I bypass Manila and send email directly to the Office of International Operations (OIO). They never respond. I follow that up with a call to the SSA 800# (800-772-1213) and the staff there tell me what's happening with my 561's. It seems that the emails to OIO may have some effect.
Unfortunately, it seems that the standard IRS documentation that I sent with my 561 has bamboozled every SS staff that looks at it. It seems the communication between IRS and SSA is malfunctioning.
Either I'm the unluckiest SS benefit recipient or the entire SSA is in a shambles.😢
Just in time! lol
As always,to little too late!
Are they really thinking people will stop burning?
My neighbors are still burning everyday.
To tackle this problem it will require a life style change and i do not see that happening soon.
Trucks belching out black smoke are still a daily occurrence,if you and i can see this every day then why don't
the police see this?
Lets just hope for early rain and problem solved? for another year.
Starmer is desperate to create growth ,at any cost or concession , as growth was his election pledge . His attempts to make UK growth are being undermined by Reeves whose badly thought out Budget actions are reducing growth .
Sticking to the topic , living standards have declined for many pensioners because of the withdrawal of the WFP . Trying to appease by saying that the triple lock will enhance the pension has enraged many folks .
Workers losing their jobs because of increased costs of N.I. etc to companies . Not forgetting the farmers and that stupid budget inclusion could prove to be the downfall of Starmer , Reeves & Raynor .
Given that the Labour stated that they had all their costed plans in place prior to the election , they have made zero positive gains for the nation and done sweet F.A. about the illegal immigration that is increasing under the Labour tenure .
BTW , yesterdays latest poll shows Farage and Reform are now the most popular UK political party .
There already are new alliances, Russia and China much stronger ties since economic sanctions dished out non stop.
Also the reason BRICS was formed...neither to do with Trump, just US bullying in general
