offset Posted Tuesday at 09:56 AM Posted Tuesday at 09:56 AM What are the latest requirements for the 800000 baht renewal of the retirement extension 1 1
DrJack54 Posted Tuesday at 10:07 AM Posted Tuesday at 10:07 AM 800k in Thai bank account in your name only for 2 months prior to application for extension and maintained for 3 months after application and not below 400k in other months Naturally immigration check retrospectively back to previous extension to check compliance OP, your other current thread indicates using income method. If changing from income to money in bank method that should be made clear. 1

So what you're saying is, if you have been doing monthlies, you must still show 12 months for renewal PLUS 800k in the bank for the last two months, and the three months after renewal in order to comply with next year's requirements. Seems a bit silly to me. Ask about the Combination Method.....400k in the bank and 35k per month. 1

Some seem to be leaning towards requiring 12 month bank statement where previously bank book with photocopies was sufficient. As mentioned above...if you are changing from income method to money in the bank you should state that.

Not about to play guess work re now asking about money in bank method. 5 minutes ago, KannikaP said: Hey, you are probably the first to call it a Retirement EXTENSION, as it is. And he would be (technically) incorrect. He is obtaining an extension based on being over 50. Retirement has nothing to do with it. Not working in Thailand is one condition. However we all short hand refer to extension retirement.. 1

But whatever, in UK you cannot have pension if under 55., or (pathetic) State jobbie under 67. In all my 10 Retirement Extensions, I have never been asked where my monthly transfer comes from....house rental, Pension fund, or sister's immoral earnings. They don't give a monkey's. What you send in gets taxed, the rest, in your own country, is yours. (Unless you tell them ) 2

I produced a letter from my pension provider, showing the monthly and annual amount - this was accepted" 30 minutes ago, KannikaP said: No, most refer to it as Retirement VISA. And we turn blind eye. As I posted earlier the Non O has requirement of being over 50. Not necessarily retired. If using money in bank the funds do not need to be shown from abroad. 1 1

edwardflory Posted Wednesday at 07:30 AM Posted Wednesday at 07:30 AM What is required.... The most accurate answer, go to YOUR LOCAL IO and find out THEIR requirements. They should have a printed sheet of paper with WHAT THEY WANT. 2

So nothing related to address of where you live. No lease or TM30 or TM47 No hand drawn map. No bank book update on day of application. Amazing. 1

I seem to remember providing more stuff years ago, but as time has gone by, and my 800k has remained untouched, and my details have not changed other than my age (now 83), it has become easier and quicker year by year. Be interesting to know if other old-timers have had a similar experience.

You have me by few years however in recent times I have had more issues with CW. Couple of years ago they demanded 12 month bank statement reason given was that there were two months without any transactions. Never an issue for the 10 years prior. They have always required bank book up date on day of application. Along with deposit to show "activity" Last one the doc check chicks were demanding my TM47. I showed my appointment for TM47 after extension and they let it go. Can continue.... Here is recommended list for others at CW. https://aseannow.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=994308&key=48e6446663c25875e8e67f40b65455c0 Best of luck with your future extensions.

Certainly the opposite of my experience. Regarding the date of the bank book application, Immigration allowed me the previous day after SCB closed their branch at CW. I am only relating my own experience which is that applying for a retirement extension has become much quicker and easier over time, partly perhaps because, apart from my age, not a single one of my details has changed.

I posted the same question last year and was told that was not the requirement. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the 800k in the bank because we bought another condo so I used the monthly transfers until method again for the 7th time. My extension comes up late January 2026. Right now I am planning to do the monthly transfers until October then make one last transfer if needed to reach the 800k. At that point in time I plan on stopping my monthly transfers. Is this going to be a problem?

Is this going to be a problem? I don't understand your post. Using income method you need to show 12 monthly transfers of 65k+ Yes you could perhaps stop the transfers in last 2 months prior to application for next extension and place 800k in the bank to change to funds in the bank method. But why would you. Just continue the monthly transfers right up till next extension and also have the 800k in bank two months prior. Yes overlap. If there is any issue with immigration you are covered and can continue with income method 1 1
KannikaP Posted Thursday at 04:53 AM Posted Thursday at 04:53 AM Does anyone, apart from me, use the Combination Method ie 12 x monthly transfers + Bank Deposit = 800k +. Allowed at Phitsanulok Immigration for years. I do 35k per month via WISE and have 420k in Bkk Bank single account.
DrJack54 Posted Thursday at 05:19 AM Posted Thursday at 05:19 AM 19 minutes ago, KannikaP said: Does anyone, apart from me, use the Combination Method Yes it's common. Many have Bank balance of 400k + the monthly transfers so pretty similar to your strategy. Personally dont really get it as 65k monthly transfers is pretty modest amount to live off. Would have thought income method alone would be "normal"

And 35k is just about my UK State Pension per month.

Even though there is an advert there that states you can do your TM30 online, they still wanted the paper version. It further depends on the whim of the individual IO handling your application. Every time I go there it is different.
