AI Pioneer Warns of a Future Where Machines Rule the World

Pay no attention to Hinton, he's a raging extreme left wing commie type who believes government should control all the massed compute power.

He knows a thing or two about AI though but he's literally off his rocker - puts on a good show.

Considering the mess the world is in, I doubt if machines could make it worse.... the worry is: if machines asked "What would be greatest aid to state of the planet?" The answer would be "Eliminate humans"

Exactly. Like the Kyle Reese character said in the first Terminator movie, "[the machines] decided our fate in a microsecond."

The 3 laws of robotics taken to the logical conclusion.

Skynet is happy.

Rather have a machine than certain billionaires trying to manipulating every aspect of our lives.

Isn't Elon Musk already looking at introducing AI systems via DOGE into the US government workings to supposedly make them more efficient and reduce staffing levels?

When you eat Krapow Moo washed down by Beer Chang I doubt anyone is forcing anything on you. Then afterwards the bum gun gets used and you get a cheap thrill. If people switched off the tv or internet they would not know who said what and the Krapow Moo still tastes the same.

Machines' takeover of the world; subjection or  annihilation of mankind.

Often the popular topic in the Sci-fi dramas for decades.

But with their current level of  "Intelligence", it looks far from the Becoming Reality.

Can your net banking's AI Virtual Assistant properly understand what you say(texts entered) without delay?

They too often reply  'Please Rephrase..." instead.

And it has been like that for the past decade.

So much for the threat of supposedly super-fast-evolving,  self-learning AI...

Might not be such a bad thing.

Machines use logic, so leftist policies would disappear overnight.

Depends who initially programmes the machines.presumably they will have some core values ( the machines I mean)  I have seen several examples of people asking AI loaded questions   regarding for example the contributions made to society by black or  white people.   The answers were bizarre to put it mildly, but not unexpected
