Hi everyone,

I have a question about the Certificate of Residence in Thailand. I know this document is required for things like getting a Thai driving license, buying a motorcycle, or opening a bank account.

My questions are:

1. Does it matter where I obtain the certificate? For example, if my address is in Pattaya, but I get my residence certificate in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, or Phuket, can I still use it at the Pattaya Department of Land Transport to apply for a driving license? Or for buying a motorcycle or opening a bank account in Pattaya?

2. If I want to open a bank account in Chonburi province, does the residence certificate have to be issued by the Chonburi Immigration Office, or can it be from any immigration office in Thailand?

Would appreciate any advice from those who have experience with this. Thanks!

If your address is in Pattaya, you have to get your Certificate of Residence from Chonburi immigration (Jomtien office).

Any immigration office elsewhere in Thailand will require you to have a local address within the jurisdiction of that office. At the very least, you'd need a current TM30 notification for that address.

I live in Pattaya. When I renewed my Drivers's License post Covid, in 2021, I obtained my COR from the Chonburi Immigration office in Sriracha. No issues at the DLT near Regents School.

Chonburi Immigration has offices in more than one city.

My COR was issued in the province I live in but not the city I live in.

Oh I see. But if I want to let’s say change my driving license, do I have to go to the exact same dlt where I got my driving license first at? This little bit of topic sorry

Okay so your address was in Pattaya city at the time you got your COR from sriracha immigration? Which dlt is it exactly? Dlt near route 36?

You can get a "letter of residence" from any hotel where you stay, and with that go to the immigration office corresponding to where the hotel is located in order to get a residence certificate.

The DLT near Regents School just off HWY 36.

I think that is the only DLT in Chonburi Province.

There are four Chonburi Immigration offices: Jomtien, Sriracha, Koh Sichang, and Laem Chabang

Yes it does. You obtain COR where you live.

File TM30, TM47 etc.

Thread for obtaining COR Jomitien (good OP)

Question 2 same answer as Q1..

What are you trying to achieve. Your threads are not clear.

I wonder about this
The transport office in phuket is 2-3 months+ backed up for renewals
BUT
many are now getting their COR in Phuket ( that's their residence) and travelling to get their dl renewal in Phang Nga
with no problem

Of course not.

What do you mean "change your driving licience"

You can drive anywhere in Thailand with your TDL.

When renewal is due you obtain COR and renew at Transport office where you live

It seems like you can obtain your Certificate of Residence (COR) from the Si Racha Immigration office and use it at the Department of Land Transport (DLT) near Regent’s School, even if your address is in Pattaya City. I understand that some immigration offices place the name order differently on the COR, which is why I am aiming to go to an immigration office that will issue the COR with the correct name order. Once I have the COR with the correct name order, I will visit the DLT office to correct my name in their system, as the DLT advised me to bring a COR with the correct name order for them to make the change. As I want to use my driving license as a identification when I don’t have my passport. some entities require me to have driving license that is correct.

Identification for WHAT?

When would you not have your passport?

If you are asking about hotel check in etc then state that.

What do you mean " some entities require me to have driving license that is correct"

What "entries"

What are you asking?

If you think TDL can get you into National Park etc you are wrong.

Seriously don't understand any of your questions.
