How much can I be extorted for, with no tax liability?

Answer this question.  How did you prove to them you have no tax liability.  Ohhhh, that's right, you didn't.  :cheesy:

This is not an immigration offense,  This is a criminal offense. Breach it. and open you wallet, big time.

How do you think the tax people will find me in the village?

How many times do members have to say it?  Is English your first language?

It's inevitable the Thai government will use the immigration laws to push expats into a TRD Office to prove source of income.  That means, they don't come to you, they make you go to the TRD office, or no extension for you. Get it?

My last TM 30 was for a condo in Chiang Mai 4 years ago.

So what?

How is that relevant to this tax policy in 2025?

Thai banks report your remittances, and they know when you must show for your extension.

This was he whole point of "the Thai's can't do it, they would have to employ 5000 more TRD staff to chase foreigners all over Thailand " argument.

Noooo, just say no extension without TRD paper.  Problem solved.  Farang no must go TRD Office first.  Simple, right????    Yes, rocket science.

That's a pretty big difference between owing 14,000 THB and owing NOTHING!   What are they doing, throwing a dart and seeing where it lands for any given filer???  🙂

You brought in only pre-2024 savings. You had zero assessable income. You had no need to file.   What could he enter into the system? How is he going to record in the system t

  • I will add the low level officials told me not to bother filing.   The senior official said they were wrong, they should not have said that, and he would speak to them about the new rules.

Well. Look on the bright side. It has been a learning curve. What you have learnt is that when the Thai government departments make grandoise announcements regarding new laws or crackdowns just ignore them or file them away on a dusty shelf at the back of your mind.

Just keep up with immigration rules and  DON't overstay your visa. Everything else can be dealt with if it becomes absolutely necessary.

Wife never filled in a TM30 for 30 years as I was doing 90 day visa runs.  When I was finally obliged to switch to doing an extension because of Covid the immigration officer asked for a TM 30. We looked blank and we just paid the statutory fine of 1700 baht.  No hiisy fit , nothing . All smiles and see you agains. Not bad for 30 years.

Thanks so much for the common sense comment.

It was driving me nuts.

I am fine again now.

You really are just insistent on pushing your ideas and views of things to come.

You most certainly are not listening to the views of other board members.

Now I listened to you, and against better judgement went and did what you said.

I was greeted with ' Better do it yourself online, you are now registered in the computer '

On the basis of what we have been told, there is no reason in this case why a tax return needs to be filed.

Spot on,

I've got everything in a file at my home.

I've shown proof and evidence.

I will retain these documents for future unforeseen circumstances.

I have better things to do with my time rather than listening to ifs, but's and why for.

Any of you commenting on here are tax experts in Thailand?

Nope, didn't think so.

Opinions are like arse holes

We all have one.

It's good to see our village idiot is back stirring up trouble. At least Bob was in it for a laugh.

That is NOT a proven fact only your opinion!

Stop scaremongering!

My problem with his opinion posts is his presentation that his opinions (which he is entitled to) are posted and presented as if they are facts!

I agree that does not help.

I've always said I will be using an agent.  Nothing has changed from that.

I want as little dealings with Thai officials as possible, and I'm happy to pay for that privilege.

The agent says he can also "negotiate" my tax liability. Some business owner friends here have confirmed this possibility also.    Too funny.  Real 3rd World Country stuff.

I'll give it all a try this time around.  See how it goes.

I will will be legal, and rest well.  I'll have that magic document that means I am good for 12 months, no matter what the Thai's do.

Unlike yourself, I actually hold his tax policy, which does have criminal offenses attached to it, in the same regard as immigration policy, and that is, it is imperative to comply.

No you won't, nor sleep well apparently seeing your incessant posting trying to convince no one but yourself.

Using intentionally an Immigration agent to get a visa stamp without meeting the requirements as using intentionally a Tax agent to get a tax paper without having to file or negotiating down your tax liability, both are frauds. Fraud is a criminal offense.

Sleep tight.

I don't need to convince anyone of anything.  Everyone will have to make their own decision in regards to this tax policy.

I am simply suggesting the Thai are not going to let foreigners simply do nothing.  Many others, including professionals in the industry, are of the same opinion.

I accept this, but hey, TiT. One must make TiT work for them.

What about all those that drive / ride drunk. have a property in a Thai Company and / or using Thai nominees, engage the services of prostitutes, have a fake marriage so it's 400k not 800k, failure to get a TM30 etc etc.

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

I will.

I'll have a TRD document proving I have filed and paid.

Yes, it's my opinion.  I never said it was a fact.  If it was a fact, it would be happening already.

What's your point?

Once again, I have never said it was a fact.  If it was a fact, it would be already happening.

It is my opinion, but also the opinion of many others, including professionals.

We know it is only your scaremongering opinion but you do not say "IMO" you state it as if it is a FACT!

The sooner you are banned again for this dangerous practice the better for all concerned

Yes.  You could call it a prediction, even.

I don't know why the other members thinks I am saying it's a fact.  We all know it's not being implemented as yet.

Perhaps English is not his first language.

Good to see you have made some progress.

If you enter all your details online, and at the end there is 0 baht tax to pay,  then that is a good result, no so much because of the 0 baht to pay, but for the record kept online that at a certain time and date you signed in and filed, thus, your a** is covered.

How strange that I even knew who you were replying to without even clicking on the link in the New Content page.

When the mods gonna take action against this scaremonger, posting the same unfounded conspiracy theories for months in every thread, and then asking others for sources that contradict his unfounded claims

Strange that you have never put forward one single reason for why it could never possibly happen.

Why is that?

17 minutes ago, scottiejohn said:

That's rubbish.

Have I never said, "the fact is...................." or "the facts are................."  No.

If it was a fact, it would be happening in immigration offices right now, but it's not.  That said, I did post a youtube video of a guy in Phuket who went to the immigration office and they told him to go to the TRD Office.

I have even posted it's more of a prediction even, than an opinion.  I have never said it was a fact.  Is that clear for you now????

Anyway, getting back on topic, why don't you put forward your reason/s for why it will never happen?
