Issan. Heard of it and please don't push your morals on other people. You're entitled to live your alcohol free life as others are entitled to drink alcohol and yes people can drink alcohol on the big religious holidays. It seems that your alcohol free existence has made you a particularly nasty person. Your language certainly supports this assumption. You're not a bot are you? I mean that would explain it.

No, I am not a bot nor am I a nasty person. Language? It was you  using several insults in your comments  to support your 'I'm more Thai than the Thais'  claim.

You live in Issan? Good for you. Maybe you can eat insects with stivcky rice and bamboo salad with your Thai drinking buddies. Do you know how do the Thais call foreigners who like to hangout with village alcoholics? 'Ban nok' or 'kee niaow' farang.

BTW, how is your Honda Shadow these days?

Another insult. Alcoholism must be a serious problem among some of the members.

Do you have anything to contribute, or you just like to call people snobs?

Whether you drink or not you must admit there needs to be a designated tourist area in places such as Pattaya. The piss weak reason for the restrictions in Thailand has nothing to to do with Buddhism or Thai culture. The law was brought in because all those naughty Government workers go on the slops in their lunchtimes, The mind boggles with all these Thai brain farts.

True, but rules are rules. When the country you choose to live in has these stupid rules (like immigration), you should follow them. If not, move to another country. We are guests, and should behave like that. Stay under the radar, abide to the common rules. Quite simple, though ploughing my way through all the insults  I get, the alcohol ban must be touching a sensitive spot.

Friendly advice for the Dinsdales, Quakes and all other loudmouths:

Have a nice day

You called me and everyone I have a drink with village alcoholics. This includes my family. Can't get much lower than that. As for drawing the deluded conclusion that I am saying "'I'm more Thai than the Thais'" substantiate this or STFU.

The rules are no alcohol sales NOT no alcohol consumption.

I called you a village alcoholic, not your family of course.

When you write nonsense like "I have been here for 20 years". "I live in the real Thailand". " I know Thai culture better than anyone", just as reference to some of your comments.

You know what I noticed? You are arguing with most members here. A sour old man, is that what you are? Cheer up man, have another drink.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does STFU mean?

You have quoted me as saying what I've made bold in your comment. Please post where I said this. If you can't I will accept your apology. Deliberately misquoting a member is against forum rules and for good reason. As for "real Thailand" this is a common expression amongst those who don't live in Pattaya, Phuket etc. As for 20 years it's actually 21 years now full time. Been with the missus around 17 years or so. As for being "a village alcoholic" this just shows your levels of civility. I will make this very plain to you only once. I do not get drunk everyday and indeed I do not drink everyday and even if I did it's none of your business. Looking forward to your apology.

Who is an upset little snowflake?

It's a public forum so I suggest you just ignore it and get on with your life!

If you can!

Being called a village alcoholic and being deliberately misquoted demands a response. Some on here would go straight for the report button.

Which is what you should have done.  I use my next door laundry to clean my dirty washing, not a public forum!

I am surprised that a snowflake like you has not melted away in the Thai heat!

Let's not go name throwing then. You want to give then be prepared to take or maybe it's you who's the snowflake. If someone calls me the village alcoholic and deliberately misquotes me I have the right to respond as you do if some for instance someone was to say "may your cancer grow rapidly".  Hoping you see my point before calling me a snowflake again.

There is absolutely no comparison between a mild so called "snowflake" comment and wishing cancer on someone!

Stop being a snowflake. I'm amazed you haven't melted in the Thai heat. I suggest you ignore me and get on with your life.

I just love reading people's responses to your asinine posts!

And the original point being that alcohol is drank by the millions of litres on Buddhist holiday days by THAIS. Tell me this is asinine. Tell me why calling someone a village alcoholic without knowing the person isn't asinine and isn't utterly disgraceful. As for "Who is an upset little snowflake?" well IMHO that says more about your character than mine.

Now you see why I don't want to put you on ignore!

If that is the absolute basic level of drivel and garbage that you are capable of producing then

I am really looking forward to your next epistle!

(like hell I am!)

Right! Thais don't drink alcohol on the Buddhist holidays where alcohol sales are prohibited. This is obviously drivel as this doesn't happen. Correct? You @scottiejohn are an alcoholic. This is a fair and acceptable comment? Do you think it requires a reply? How about this.  @scottiejohn "I am really looking forward to your next epistle post! I like them." Deliberately changing what someone posted and misquoting them is OK? Yes or No? As for "epistle" thank you for saying my post are eloquent. My guess is you don't know what this word means. I actually made money at university (did you go to one? are you a graduate?) by proof reading, correcting and editing essays/dissertations whilst studying at uni and after. If you accuse someone of doing something then back it up. Post some of my "asinine" replies and say why they're asinine. Do you even know what this word means? My guess is you'll go straight to Google to find out. Never mind. Here it is. Extremely foolish or stupid. Is saying that Thais drink alcohol on the Buddhist no alcohol sales days and the law prohibiting said sales is archaic is asinine? If so maybe you can explain why. My guess is you can't. My guess is you'll deflect.

It was not a quote from someone else.  It was my own statement that I "changed" I  changed it to make a point!

Please provide proof of that scurrilous and unfounded statement!

As you cannot I will not wait for a reply!

Exactly. I was accused of this but you called me a snowflake for saying I had to respond. You have responded to my example NOT accusation. Your reading comprehension skills need some polishing.

My guess

Is exactly that!

It has no foundation in fact as I have shown above!

As for the rest of your pointless post  which I will not waste my time or breath on it proves two things;

1 It shows why I will not put you on ignore are this last post of yours is so ridiculous and inaccurate it needs to be laughed at by as many on AN as possible!

2.  I look forward to the comments your post elicits!

No. Again you are not keeping up. Go back and look at the posts. I was deliberately misquoted. My guess that you would deflect from my above post would seem to be accurate. Here it is again.
