In Prachuap Khiri Khan province, a 16-year-old, known as A, has accused her uncle of sexual assault and her aunt of physical abuse. The distressing situation unfolded when she fled to a temple for sanctuary. Accompanied by Chaiyanat Yamasamit, a local assistant village headman, she reported the incidents to police on February 12.

The teenager showed visible bruises and a swollen face, evidence of her aunt’s alleged assaults, alongside claiming sexual assault by her uncle. Chaiyanat detailed that the girl was discovered crying at the temple by a monk, who then alerted him. Upon questioning, she revealed the abusive acts by her relatives.

Adding to her trauma, A disclosed further molestation by residents at a facility for disadvantaged people where her aunt worked. Police, alongside social workers, took swift action to investigate, safely placing A in a child and family shelter.

Investigations are ongoing, with authorities considering charges against multiple suspects while cautioning against false reports. The girl’s 33-year-old aunt, B, admitted to hitting A in anger upon discovering inappropriate interactions between her husband and the girl. B, who raised A from a young age, expressed disbelief at the situation, insisting she provided well for her. This troubling case highlights the urgent need for the girl’s protection and justice, reported The Thaiger.
