Zelensky and his nation are fighting for their very existence. As he explained to Trump etc, Putin thinks Ukraine has no right to be.

So what should he/ they do? Surrender and be subjugated, murdered, their children carted off to Russia as thousands have already been done in the east?

No, they want to be free, as free as we are and for three years they have fought successfully to repel Russia and its murderous regime.

So if Trump wants to claim to be a peace maker he must guarantee military hardware to back up the peace

But he won't so there is no peace.

Trump, this year's Neville Chamberlain, an appeaser who's morally bankrupt.

Trump will be back groveling to Zelensky

So be it, Europe, Canada, Australia, Japan will go our own way

Good. That'll last about 5 minutes after the money men tell them the piggy bank is empty.

Haven't they already given Ukraine all the obsolete military equipment they had? What are they going to give now that they know that Russia is gonna win and they imagine they are next?

Under Obama:

Obama loved Russia and Putin. Remember the '80s calling and wanting their foreign policy back?
Remember Obama caught on a hot mike begging Putin for space until after the election in exchange for canceling missile defense?
Remember the "Russian Reset"?
Remember Obama's refusal to sell defensive weapons to Ukraine?

Now remember Trump sanctioning Russia?
Remember Trump killing 200 Wagner Group mercenaries in Syria?
Remember Trump selling arms to Ukraine?

Now remember Biden cancelling sanctions on Russia, including those imposed by Trump?
Remember Biden halting arms sales to Ukraine?
Remember Biden's surrender debacle in Afghanistan?
Remember Biden saying that the US would not respond to Russia invading Ukraine, if it were only a minor invasion?

You cared cared nothing about Ukraine until the left started pretending Trump was a Russian asset.

I’m Glad you & Jas007 are on board , both of you deserve some praise!

Peace was on the table with American

workers & Interests as a leverage on the border of  the Ukraine & Russia, mining rare earth. That deal almost happened! Now Z & Europe are gonna have to broker continued hostilities or their own deal with Russia.

EU is listening...

It is a pity that Trump is incapable of listening to anyone, especially now that he does not appear to have any qualified advisors.

Under Obama:

Remember regime-change?

Woman with cookies said "We have invested over $5 billion to assist Ukraine in these and other goals that will ensure a secure and prosperous and democratic Ukraine."

Most of that was from Department of State, with smaller amounts through other departments.  Funding conduit was some group called USAID.  They've been in the news recently, I believe.

Well, there's going to be no great make-up sex after that spat. The comedian from Kiev will soon be going back to his old gig of playing Chopin on the piano with his dingdong.

Probably not. The crook's a multimillionaire now from stealing from the US taxpayer. Whatever he does though he'll sleep with one eye open from now on. And he's not going to die peacefully in his sleep surrounded by children and grandchildren. Too many loved ones of the million Ukrainians he has sent to their death for that to happen.

Vladimir Vladimirovich thanks you for repeating his disinformation.

According to the Daily Mail, the deal is done. Zelensky has surrendered and granted mineral rights to the US.  I'm sure he's getting a nice retirement package somewhere for his cooperation.

Well, once again the DM is wrong. Zelenski came to the white house yesterday and proceeded to insult and disrespect America. He was thrown out on his ass. The deal MIGHT get signed when he comes crawling back and publicly apologizes to the white house and America at large. 🤠

As a Canadian, I have a lot of respect for the USA. Honestly, being in my 30s, I grew up with 90s American movies, and back then, that was everything to me. I remember a time when everyone wanted to be American.

But I have a hard time understanding what happened to you guys. Somewhere along the way, the train completely derailed. I get that Trump is a polarizing figure—you either love him or hate him, there's no in-between—but blaming everything on him seems way over the top.

Biden gave $350 billion to Ukraine for the war. Do you realize how much money that is? Meanwhile, you have people in the US literally starving on the streets.

I love Americans, especially those who travel and live abroad like us expats, because we generally have a different perspective than those who never leave home. But I don’t like how the US always tries to stick its nose in everything, everywhere.

That’s why I support Trump on this issue. Why keep the war going? How many more people need to die? For what?

Sorry, but I’d rather see Trump and Putin as friends, with no war, than what’s been happening over the last three years.

But to be fair and honest, fk them all. Politicians are all the same they all crooked.

A litte too much potential conspiracy theory in that one.  People here making some of the comments would probably do well to learn about the more recent history of Ukraine.  The Ukranian people made their feelings known in the Maidan Protests of 2013/2014 - known these days as simply Maidan - after the 2024 film of the same name.

Yanukovych had previously agreed to seek membership of the European Union and seemed to be genuinley steering the country in that direction. However he suddenly changed tack and announced that he would be seeking closer ties to Russia and membership of the Eurasian Economic Union.  Yanukovych was quite clearly a member of the Putin fan club and it is rumoured that he was in the Russian leader's pocket - Putin certainly had a large amount of influence and control on which way Ukraine leaned and didn't want to lose that. Putin is quite happy not to be an 'expansionist' providing he can ultimately control the bordering countries - as he does with Belarus through Lukashenko but he looked to be losing it. The Ukranian people clearly viewed themselves as European and wanted to develop relationships/ties to its Western neighbours.

'Yanukovych renaged on the EU agreement - that sparked the riots in Kyiv.

'But it was the deaths of at least 88 people, many of them protesters shot dead by uniformed snipers in 48 hours of bloodshed, that ultimately brought him down.

The killings sent shockwaves around the world.

Under EU pressure he signed a deal to transfer powers to parliament and hold early elections. But within hours he had fled the capital and his administration had crumbled.'

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-25182830

Then there was the annexation of The Crimea in 2014, followed by the Minsk agreement and forward to the situation today.  I don't believe for one moment that Putin started the present conflict because he didn't want NATO on his borders - he has that already and if he took Ukraine he would have a much larger one. He just doesn't want to lose control of Ukraine via his puppets. Putin is also a 'Stalinist' and admires what Stalin achieved in terms of borders and population control.

But but but - you conveniently left off the part about the New and Improved Ukraine ala F***-The-EU Nuland which began killing the Russian speakers in the Donbass.  Hell, even CNN got it right in 2014.
