The black national anthem was an astounding misstep.  They're opening dividing the country along racial lines in the most public way possible. This will alienate all races and grow racial consciousness amongst white Americans which will undo the entire American project in its current form.

 

They did the exact opposite of what Theodore Roosevelt said but on steroids. So now we're all hyphenated-Americans and the original founding stock is color coded white-American plus we have two national anthems. Brilliant plan for running the "united states" I'm sure it's going to end well.

My only experience with Arabs besides passing through the airport once was at a Jordanian restaurant  in Bangkok. Totally vile how they ate rice with their hands and stroked their beards to clean the food debris. An interesting experience and I liked the food but not getting good vibes from them.

Actually though, my wife has a cousin that married a black mail man from Las Vegas and they've lived together for years in America. She made a point of telling me he was black even as it was unusual. Otherwise I've perhaps never seen a Thai-black couple in real life although I know they exist.

You can be seen as a sex tourist /expoliting a younger Thai female if age gap is visible...if you enter the backpacker bubbles around Thailand...an older guy married to a Thai said much the same..he avoided any shor term tourist bubbles such as weekend market walking streets...

I have felt much the same going in these bubbles in my time in Thailand so just avoided short-term tourist/backpacker bubbles...it's a cliche thing ...my g/f was in uni though I was under 40 at time but not in my early 20s...

IME the Arabs I worked with spent more time trying to get out of work than it would have taken them to get the work done.

My wife is black and Thai's treat her extraordinarily well here. They treat her like a rockstar, stoping her to take picture, talk and they want to touch her skin and hair. Many of them have never seen a black woman in person. She's also put in the time to learn their language.

Now if we could only get her Visa sorted. lol

I feel the same.  I think people rush to say things are racist wherever they see the chance.

 

The toothpaste one actually highlights the plight of Black people, as he is constantly rescuing people's balloons, but then they are too scared to take them from him.  A feeling I'm sure most foreigners can relate to post-covid.

I hadn't heard of Black Man Mops before.  Neither seem racist.

This interview pretty much says it all. If you are born in Thailand, you are Thai - but unless you are raised in a Thai family, and go to Thai schools, you'll never really fit in because your outlook and way of thinking will be different from most Thai people. 

 

This guy's parents aren't Thai and it sounds like he went to a madrassa after primary school. It seems odd, too, that he says he has an ID card but not a Thai passport - maybe he only has a pink ID.

 

Some of the comments by Thais are very revealing e.g. "he speaks Thai so clearly" ... "if you didn't see his face you'd think he was Thai" etc. Not "he was born here so he is Thai". But he doesn't look Thai so, to many Thai people, he could never be Thai.

At least a couple of African countries said will repatriate black Americans and help them settle but few takers for obvious reasons. I guess they'd rather stay in America where they get the bully pulpit and can blame whitey for all their problems.
