Hiatus hernia

I am worried I may have this  prob ,I am already taking GORD meds ,but have bloating stomach ,but not sure ,how do I know what to do?

Pains are bad at night, so raised my pillow ,,

was taking nexium , now taking lansoprazole 30mg

my gut biome could be bad

What are the red flags of a hernia?

 

 

Inguinal hernia signs and symptoms include: A bulge in the area on either side of your pubic bone, which becomes more obvious when you're upright, especially if you cough or strain. A burning or aching sensation at the bulge. Pain or discomfort in your groin, especially when bending over, coughing or lifting.

Inguinal hernia and hiatal hernia are entirely different things.

 

That said , no reason to assume you have a hiatal hernia.

 

I suspect that when you say you have "bloating stomach", you actually have a distended abdomen.  Which would not be relaed to a hiatal hernia but could be many other things. 

 

Together with recent blood in your urine, these could be serious signs.

 

You need to stop googling and see an actual doctor.

Alcoholic Gastritis? You don't mention your symptoms except for bloating and pain so could be many things. Go to a doctor. If you're on the booze (cigs?) everyday stop for a while.

Easy answer for your question. STOP PLAYING DOCTOR AND GO AND SEE A REAL DOCTOR ASAP...

You should definitely see a gastro doctor, as others here are advising. A hiatal hernia is when part of your stomach pushes up through the diaphragm; they’re often detectable by simple radiology, but to get the full picture you’d need an endoscopy. I had one (and felt no pain or discomfort at all from it), and had the preliminary work done at Chiang Mai Ram. Then I had the hernia repaired at Bumrungrad (Dr. Voranaddha Vacharathit, really great). Bumrungrad is relatively pricey, but I have insurance; failing that, I’m sure other hospitals can do the same procedure at lower cost; it’s pretty routine. But start with a general gastrointestinal doctor.

However, I do recall  that I once had a ventral or umbilical hernia.

 

I gave myself this hernia by trying to hit a golf ball 300 yards.

 

This long drive cost me USD5000.00 (1990 dollars) to have it repaired in Naples Florida.

Great surgeon.

 

He repaired it by using a wire mesh.

 

Still good, after all these years.

 

My procedure was done in one day.

I entered the hospital in the morning, and was out the same afternoon.

 

Avoid driving for about a week, was the doc's advice.

 

Also,....

I have not played golf since recovering from this minor surgery.

What I had, I imagine, was just an umbilical hernia.

A tear of approx two inches, as I recall.

Still: USD5000.00 in 1990 dollars, even without in-patient treatment.

 

I cannot afford another one.

Therefore: My golfing days are a thing of the past.
