PHUKET: A birthday party at a restaurant near Soi Pisanu in Village 1, Wichit, turned deadly in the early hours of Sunday, when an 18-year-old girl was shot dead during a petty squabble.

A student at Phuket Technology College, had been out drinking at the restaurant to celebrate a birthday with a group of about 10 friends. About 3:30 am, four youths on two motorcycles pulled up outside the restaurant and approached the group. One of the youths approached his girlfriend, who was among the group, asking her return home with him. The girlfriend refused to leave. The boy firend began pulling on her arm, a friend and another girl stepped in to break up the altercation. One of the four youths produced a pen-gun and shot into the group. The shot hit a student in the back, causing her to collapse. (...) She died later in hospital.

(...) Police found the culprit and his friends at 9:30 am hiding in an apartment. A .38-caliber pen-gun and two .38-caliber bullets were discovered at the scene. All four youths were taken to Phuket City Police Station for questioning. (...) Both were released pending an investigation. The two other youths were released without charge.

Do I get it right? The killer and his friends are not in prison?

Yep you did, I am constantly astounded at the actions taken by the powers that be, in their almost immediate release of self confessed murderers. The mind boggles as to what they're thinking when the do.

I'd put money on it the perpetrator will never be seen or heard of again, court date will come & go, he won't show, warrant will be issued for arrest, nothing will happen at all. The end.

Have to agree with Pomthai... It's just astonishing that someone most likely have murdered another person is immediately released 'pending investigation'.. no mention of bail ??

Seems unlikely that any case will be made against this youngster. I guess some behind the scene deal has been made between the shooter, the dead girl's familly and the police. Astonishing... must be more to this than meets the eye. Guess the shooter's familly is 'well conected'.

Does anyone know anything more about Phuket Technical College? Wasnt it only a month ago that 2 youths from Phuket Techno broke into a lecturers house, were disturbed, and then slashed the throat of the maid and a baby/child - killing both.

Is that place rough or are they just having a run of bad luck?
