Well it appears to be here now as just had a notification from Apple.

Their cheapest iPhone in current family of phones. Cost 22,900 Baht.

In US 599 and UK 599

Time to upgrade from iPhone 13????

Not so sure as it still runs good,  though I looked at all the current 16's at the AIS shop and there is a noticeable difference - latest chip...

All the reviews are saying it is far too expensive

Obviously there are far cheaper android phones and last year bought the wife an Oppo Reno 11,  superb phone as its never out of her hand,,,

I am still using my Iphone 12 mini from 2020.

Not seen anything in the Iphone range since that would make me want to change it.

Must agree with you,  I have a redundant iPhone 6 in the drawer.

Lots of reviews and articles out there,

When I get around to it,  will go and have a good look.......

Those in the know say give it a miss and wait for the '17.....

As to if it is time to upgrade grade it depends on your reasons. It will run iOS 18 (the current version) it is going to run iOS 19 it will very probably run iOS 20, so all current applications will be running OK. It will almost certainly run the most restrictive applications like banking apps for the next few years.

It is likely to become outdated at the same time as your wife’s Oppo Reno 11 as Apple phones are typically supported for twice the time android phones are.

So if the amount of memory is not a problem, if the phone is not damaged, if it is not running too slowly, it’s good for years yet, if the battery isn’t holding enough of a a charge it is worth getting a genuine apple replacement battery (the apple batteries are good quality and value for money)

Oldest lad's birthday this month. Thinking on getting him a new iPhone as I think he has a 10 or 12 at the moment? Forgive me, but I am not familiar with the product line. I think a 15 may be good enough but is there any of the older ones that fans think are better than their successors?

I'm in the UK next week and wondering if I buy one here, it will work OK in Thailand? I'm thinking they are truly universal and will have Thai language as an option? I don't think there will be any major cost saving, just convenient for me.

BTW, those prices quoted earlier for the 16e seem to be lower than my current search.

Any U.K. unlocked Apple phone will certainly work OK in Thailand, you can change the language to Thai without problems. Now

there is likely to be no cost saving and a probability of problems with repairs if the are required. The iPhones are not 100% the same in both countries and The warranty is valid only in the country it was purchased

Now iPhones probably won’t need a warranty repair, but if there is a problem you have to pay.

The 16e has mixed reviews, it is classed as a budget model but still has very good specs compared with a 10 or 12, but lacks some options found on recent ( 15 or 16 ) Pro models.

There are many comparison videos on YouTube where you can see differences and recommendations between, for example, a 15 Pro and the 16e.

Difficult to recommend as depends on what your boy feels more important in a phone.

While the 16e might lack some features it is a small neat package and the battery life is excellent. The single camera makes the phone more visually appealing imo but obviously lacking Macro and Telephoto options found on other models.

I have looked at the 16e and it is appealing but would go for the 15 Pro Max for the larger screen and better camera features. There was very little change from 15 to 16 models so hopefully would find a 15 PM at a reasonable price.

Seriously considering abandoning IOS , I had some big issues with paying for goods with my new Thai Visa Mastercard when I tried to purchase some items in US dollars.  Phone calls with BBL helpline sorted it,  but a bit of a pain...

Oppo Reno 13, Oneplus 13T are top of my list,  did consider Samsung A56, some mixed reviews out there....

Google Pixel 9A, but for some reason Thailand is not on the 32 country list of it being sold.... bit baffling.

The platform is rarely the problem.

if you are advised stay with iOS or switch to android will be very dependent on usage and the apps you use or buy. For some the switch is virtually painless, for others extremely painful.
If you have a modern variant and only use a few apps, banking, line, browsing, taking photos that you store in Google photos then the change will be easy. For myself the iOS Mac integration is so profound that, though I have an android phone in a drawer, I will not swap to the less comprehensive platform.
