Sordid escapades from the sleepy town of Savanakhet.

SVK is a place I used to visit often when I was on a multi extension visa.

Every time I visited it turned into a 48 hour sordid bender. Booze, birds, ladyboys, it really was a crazy place once you scratched the surface.

I have no idea what it's like these days as i haven't been for years, but i would love to go into much more detail but I can't for fear of this post getting relegated to the lounge.

All I can say is every time I went there I had a great time. Fear and loating in savanakhet we used to call it.

It was as calm as a cucumber on the surface, but as wild as a scene from 'From Dusk Till Dawn' underneath...

Regards,

Bob.

Mukhdahan is much better, there are tons of those karaoke bars around with more hot Lao girls than you'll see during your entire stay in Savannakhet

Last time I was there ( pre COVID) there was quite a nice ice cream shop with a very pretty girl working there - I smiled at her and she gave me an extra scoop.

That is about as wild as it got!

Savannahkhet is an absolute <deleted> hole. There's nothing to do there. The only positive take away was strolling along the river promenade and an excellent banh mi shop at the big market at the edge of the town. I was really happy leaving it after two days.

I disagree , back in late 90’s early 2000, before friendship bridge built , i & Thai G/f stayed at a riverside hotel , big soapy massage area on ground floor , Vietnamese freelancers lining the riverbank , it come to life after dark , that was dem days !

Well as a visa run destination it's pretty much toast now, thanks to new rules and the eVisa roll-out. I can only imagine that this hasn't helped with the number of tourists they are getting...

It'll only get worse from now. Both for Mukdahan and Savannahkhet
