In defiance of Trump, I think Nato should put troops on the ground in Ukraine.

True. To be sure, once Ukraine is over Putin is going to be modernising and building up his military. If there is a next time, and I doubt that Putin will be in it if it happens, they will be better prepared.

In any event future war will be very different, more dependent on missiles and drones, propaganda/ cyber war and AI robotics.

Well you also have not seen me write any praises of any of those mentioned either.  Bush may have worn a flight suit, but to call him a vet would not be fair to most vets.  Many presidents have led the nation in a war and did so successfully by listening to veterans.  But I am not a fan of politicians and very seldom do I agree with much of what they do.  I also spent many years as a government civilian so have been around a lot of real losers in my opinion anyway.

Bush was a really vile man, IMO, and him putting on a uniform ( flight suit ) and claiming that he won the war is an insult to real soldiers, IMO. Gulf 2 was based on a lie.

Yeah have to agree with you, I was a govt employee during his years as President and those others too, saw the interworkings of their teams, but just the fact that he wore any uniform seperates him in the minds of ALL vets but that doesn't mean we have to love him too!

Thank you. Winter isn't far away here so it's pleasantly cool.

Wait till they invent realistic humanoid robots as in Terminator- that's going to be seriously scary- it'll be like every "person" they see could be a walking bomb. No need for suicide bombers any more.

oops forgot, as long as one RELIGIOUS radicalized belief in all those virgins upon martyred death, those bombers will remain.  Live in a fundamentalist city for two years - saw it all first hand including terrorist killings of my friends and co-workers.  Not a pretty picture, but from what I read the fastest growing religion in the world today while westen Christianity fades...talking with folks here, the same thing among their young - Buddhism fading too.  Such is life.

I worked in Saudi for many years. Those terrorists have nothing to do with Islam, any more than the Inquisition had to do with Christianity. It's political fanatics brainwashing the gullible to believe they are doing it for religion. Same as they convinced people all over the western world that women have to cover their heads due to Islam, which is BS. It's cultural, not religious.

that is why I mentioned "radicalized", for some places like where I was, I was told by several locals that 4-year old males begin a that age to HATE the west and Christianity.  If I am not mistaken, even some areas of Christianity had their women wear head covers when going to church.   But that is not the worse thing for the women, being slaves their whole lives.  Think how the Afghani women must feel now, almost 20 years of being able to go to school, work at any jobs including elected officials and lawyers, doctors when western troops were there, now back to the Stone Age!  But I dofeel that immigrants should not be trying to change my country to reflect their cultures and beliefs while basically affecting the daily lives of many Americans.

If Putin wasn't afraid to scarf up Crimea in 2014,

So Putin just woke up one morning and, just on a whim, decided to take Crimea?  Completely unprovoked, naked aggression?

Regime-changing the legitimately-elected Ukranian government had nothing to do with it?  "We" weren't pushing Kiev to terminate the Russian lease on Sevastapol?  "We" weren't going to put missiles on the Russian border?

Putin isn't stupid, and isn't a silly comic-book super-villian.  He's not Doctor Evil.  Constant movement of NATO, bringing more bases up to Russia's borders, despite the assurances of "not an inch to the east" and a series of proxy wars, and we crossed a red line.

Yessir so he promised that if the border states would give up the nukes he wouldn't invade them...that worked out well...ask the border states about it.

Oh, that old talking point.

Budapest Memo (signed by Yeltsin) wasn't a forever get-out-of-jail-free card.  It referenced Helsinki Act and UN charter.

Ethnic cleansing has consequences.

I promise if you don't kick my dog, I won't punch you in the nose.

Raping my daughter voids all warranties, expressed or implied.

Yeah I guess Georgia too just didn't settle nicely with the Russians...seems funny to me that so many in the world agree with Putin and the Russians that NATA is just chomping at the bit to attack Russia - but for some reason, I sure can't figure out why.  Must be great women or minerals there that can't be found elsewhere....oh and Russia would like the fertile fields of Ukraine and any minerals there too.

Oh, BTW how do you think the American veterans and those still suffering from not only the agent orange in VN but the burn pits too feel about his promises before and since he election, where he promised not to touch Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and then yesterday he sends ELON after the Veterans Affairs agency - which cares for veterans and their families and Trump says that they will cut thousands of jobs there - 30% of which are veterans.  That should make all the military line up to support Trump where ever...(NOT)

Nothing to do with shelling a peacekeeping contingent?

Sure, let's just add Georgia to NATO.

It'll be fine.

Do me a favour.

Look at the size of the Russian economy. It's barely larger than Spain's. Russia could no more invade and occupy large parts of Europe than Boris Johnson could speak the truth.

Nobody says NATO wants to take over Russia- you are making that up. NATO wants to destroy Russia, IMO.

Insulting other posters reflects badly on the insulter.

You are free to put whatever interpretation on what was said, but that would be making things up.

"Gosh, we've been moving NATO closer and closer for decades, and Russia just sits there, minding its own business."

You should consider more carefully what has been said before making your insulting comment.

Well moving closer and closer was a two part game - Europe wanting to put up more buffer areas while those closer to Russia wanting some kind of back up to fight Russia from invading them.  Russia is crap iMHO, wanting to garner whatever the neighboring country can provide, be it fertile land, minerals, sea access year round.  Does anyone really think that there is any European country that wants to invade Russia to steal what from them?

LOL. I can think of a certain large western country that engages in that sort of activity world wide. Goose gander etc.

Yeah I guess that is the definition of OPINION, we all have one, very few if any are 100% in agreement nor will they ever be since our opinions are based on OUR own life experiences.  Best of luck though for the next few years!

Thank you Doctor Sandyf, however, if you look at Ukraine, Russia can't even invade all of Ukraine. So let's maybe dial down the fantasies of Russia invading large parts of Europe, eh?

It'll certainly be better than if Harris had been in charge.

As I have mentioned many times, Harris is as unqualified for that seat at Trump and yessir who knows what her advisers may have been plus th4 Dem policies just might have destroyed us even quicker IMHO.

Your man Zelensky is on the cusp of losing the entire country because of his tantrum with Trump after meeting some deluded democrats. He will sign what Trump tells him to, and he will thank Trump for making him sign it. He did have the chance to save the country and keep his head held high, but no. Cheers dems.

Americans are like ambulance drivers, who ask the victim to sign an debt ( IOU) bill of $ 400.000 first or let him/her perish on the street after a shout-out ( so regular happening in Trump United States).

One big advantage: finally the Europeans stop arguing, and are mergin to a (more-or-less) union state. Then.. kick out all Americans forever.

As Putin let the Europeans switch to alternative energy sources, Liar Trump will finally unite the Europeans.
