Could Trump's plan fail in a spectacular fashion?

I guess you failed to address the tax cut issue and fake Republican claims that tax cuts pay for themselves because you have no grounds to stand on to refute it.

The united states has a spending problem.  Do you think the 1.8 to 2 trillion dollar deficit can be closed with taxation?

Can it be addressed without raising taxes?

Also the deficits don't have to be closed They just has to be substantially reduced to lower their percentage against GDP.

Do you think Trump's proposed tax cuts will raise or lower deficits and the national debt?

So I don't know how much of a spending problem the US has. But it's very clear that it has a taxation problem. And the fault for that lies clearly with the Republicans. It's unbelievable that despite the disastrous effects that their tax cuts have had on the national debt, they still persist with the lie that tax cuts will pay for themselves.

Not so long ago there was a poll done that asked voters if they would endorse a substantial rise in FICA taxes in order to secure social security once and for all. Even a majority of Republicans endorsef that proposition.

That's I see you avoided the question.   What is your vision of a realistic deficit?

What is a realistic spending target as a percentage  of the GDP?

Hey, @spidermike007 what do you think of the Democrats governing the USA to unsustainable federal budgets?

Considerably better than the $7.1 trillion that Trump added to the national deficit in his first four years in office.

First, it's comical that you are accusing me of avoiding the question when you have nothing to say about Trump's proposed tax cuts.

But I would say a budget deficit that's 2% would be a good target.

Now, do you support Trump's tax cuts?

Do you support an increase on FICA enough to secure Social Security? Or maybe some mixture of an increase in FICA and raising or eliminating the ceiling on earned income contributions to FICA?

Do the Democrats who controlled congress during all the COVID spending have any agency?

Which is about 560 billion.  Which means taxes will need to be raised around 1.4 trillion.   Where will his money come from?

Well, for one thing, it would help if Trump's tax cuts were not on the table? Do you support Trump's tax cuts? Why do you consistently evade answering that question?

I keep my tax cut.  I want to see the federal government engage in some serious spending cuts.

In 2022 Joe Biden had near record revenue at 18..8% of the GDP.   yet, he managed a deficit of 1.4 trillion.

The USA has a spending problem.

Just a spending problem? Then why do Republicans repeatedly and falsely claim that tax cuts would pay for themselves?

" If not for the Bush tax cuts4 and their extensions5—as well as the Trump tax cuts6—revenues would be on track to keep pace with spending indefinitely, and the debt ratio (debt as a percentage of the economy) would be declining. Instead, these tax cuts have added $10 trillion to the debt since their enactment and are responsible for 57 percent of the increase in the debt ratio since 2001, and more than 90 percent of the increase in the debt ratio if the one-time costs of bills responding to COVID-19 and the Great Recession are excluded. Eventually, the tax cuts are projected to grow to more than 100 percent of the increase."

“Today is the greatest day of deregulation our nation has seen. We are driving a dagger straight into the heart of the climate change religion to drive down cost of living for American families, unleash American energy, bring auto jobs back to the U.S. and more,” said EPA Administrator Zeldin.

“Alongside President Trump, we are living up to our promises to unleash American energy, lower costs for Americans, revitalize the American auto industry, and work hand-in-hand with our state partners to advance our shared mission,” added EPA Administrator Zeldin.

No, I do not. Just like last time around his tax cuts will benefit the wealthy and multinational corporations, and very little will trickle down to the common person.

Part of Trump's reason - to control fentanyl import...it is so small vs other drugs...that it is hard to do that.

Some USA university has created a fentanyl immunisation shot or some such.

This is not even true.  The Center for American progress is not good source for the sort of thing.

That reason applies to Mexico, it doesn't apply to Canada. The US saw a miniscule amount or fentanyl smuggled in from Canada last year. It is a false flag.
