Hi, I have a problem with my DTV visa, I applied for it 3 weeks ago through the website, it was sent to Ankara embassy, I am a Ukrainian citizen but now I am in Georgia but I have all the documents (like residence permit etc.) but the problem is it has been 3 weeks and the document pending status is still not completed and I am starting to worry as my flight is arriving in 2 weeks and I still don't know what to do. But the main question is, can I go to Thailand, get my visa on arrival, stay here until I get a response on my DTV visa (if I didn't get it in time before my flight) and then just re-enter Thailand with my DTV visa?

Are you able to contact the embassy regarding the status?

I understand there is no Thai embassy in Georgia. Perhaps your being in Georgia and not Turkey is the issue. Only the Ankara embassy will be able to tell you.

With your plan, if you do obtain the DTV, do you intend to do a border bounce to, say, Laos, and then return using the DTV. I would say that carries some risk as the visa will show it was issued in Ankara but you were not there, you were in Thailand at the time of issue and then you popped out to Laos. If you want to use this risky plan, I would use an agency to facilitate your entry.

However, there is a good chance you will get an answer from the embassy in the next two weeks.

Your concern is very understandable.

If for some reason you do not receive the DTV in time, suggest that you just stick with travel plans and enter Thailand visa exempt (it's not visa on arrival)

If your DTV is subsequently approved and you have the e-Visa print out then you should be able to exit Thailand and reenter with the visa.

Do not do that via land border.

Well a small addition, i actually have 2 valid passports, and (if i didnt get any response about visa) i though that first time to get visa exempt i would use another passport(not the one I indicated to get a visa), and then when the visa comes(if it comes) , i would fly to some neighbor country and fly back to enter on the second passport (by now its fully clean, as i just got it)

Think you will find that all your entry history to Thailand will show up.

In any event think your plan to exit and reenter via air showing the DTV  e-Visa will be ok.

Or if re-entering by land, use one of the border bounce companies from Pattaya or Bangkok.

Yes, you can do that.

I applied in Cambodia, and it took a while, but eventually came through to my email when I had already returned to Thailand.

If it says ' pending ' they are dealing with it.

So how did you activate it.

Fly back to Cambodia and return?

Bit different to OP who applied in Georgia

I've had a similar experience with Ankara. They approved my DTV a couple of days after my intended date of arrival. In the mean time I had changed my plans. They do not answer e-mails, but I got replies on Facebook messenger. However, they weren't very useful, they just told me to wait basically.

If you already have a flight booking (I did not have one), contact them on messenger and show it to them. This may help.

Mine took several months to get approved, but I did apply well in advance. If you submitted all necessary documents, you should be fine. They don't seem to be particularly picky or demanding, they're just very slow.
