If you're going to claim it, cite it. Maybe we can all learn.
What law did congress pass that pertains to this ?

Hmm, OK, Congress passed the law cited in the post. As written  for use in wartime. Trump claiming there is a war on does not make it so. As well document this law has been used only in time of war as designed War of 1812, WW I, WW II. War can only legally be declared by Congress.

As I read it in the right wing press, the 5 deportees that brought suit are still in the USA.

The judge overstepped his remit by including all the other deportees who weren't named in the suit.  Judges can't proactively make rules.  They're only allowed to rule on what's been brought before them.

Score another for Team Trump.  Keeping campaign promises.

Edit:  I'm open to being corrected.  It is a fast changing story.

Indeed we are being overwhelmed by the rapid appearance of multiple issues where Trump and the Project 2025 ilk are testing the bounds of law. This is one instance and since I have not read the court filed document, I will not bet my life on the particulars which will be made clearer in the coming days. I recommend listening to the interview with Attorney To Cobb on the Judges background. Any attack citing him as Trump publicly did is false on the basis of his judicial record. Yes, agree, Trump is doing what he said he would do ... for supporters I recognize they can duly claim credit and all responsibility for the results ... have at it. Yes, I stand opposed to "chainsaw" tactics ... not to thoughtful, reasoned review of all law/regulation.
