And????

That's what we know.

You said we don't know much,

but that is what we know.

I'm just pointing out FACTS, you see???

Something that you clearly don't like!

Facts ????
WHAT FACTS ?

A story in a Brit Tabloid that specialises in selling "vacation horror stories" and was NOT reported in ANY local media is your "facts" ?

Gahd - no wonder this world is in such poor shape.

Yet another GoFundMe. Horrible for the family and the guy. Shame on the Russians once again acting like careless a-holes. However, I have never heard of an insurance, that must be confirmed by the victim?

What difference does it make about the go fund me? It bit just your preset sentence.

you are not forced to send money, they're mainly aimed at friends and family, you might be grateful one day, if you have freinds that is

As someone who is in the process of a travel insurance claim, the claim cannot be made unless you know who the person was insured by. When they cannot communicate, that adds the immediate complication.

Anyone relying on travel insurance would because to ensure someone not travelling with them/next of kin etc has details of their insurance.

Until you find out, it’s a nightmare, then the claim process starts, and, trust me, that isn’t rapid by any measure.

yes indeed but what sort of insurance did the Russian have ?, a lot of these accidents are caused by reckless driving by one party yet they never seem liable to pay or invoke their 3rd party liability insurance

I see no need currently for a GFM effort, it should not be difficult to ascertain his insurance details from his documentation or booking details

nevertheless I hope he makes a speedy recovery

yes indeed but what sort of insurance did the Russian have ?...Probably NONE !!

Are you a doctor?

Doctor, no. And cleary you are not either.

However I've been a trained Emergency First Aid attendant (Level A) since I was 17 and during basic training my nickname actually was "Doc"  (still tattooed on my arm) as I knew more than the instructors teaching us First Aid.

Not to mention having been in the hospital (for operations) a couple times myself.

Here's a clue - "multiple skull fractures and bleeding on the brain" - yet no IV's connected and the "family member" is wiping his (unbandaged) head with a cloth. Riiiggghhhttt.

But in another photo (in the DailyMail) - the same people around him but suddenly he has an IV, a hand in a bag, oxygen tube in the nose.

But LOOK at the hospital bed. Notice anything funny about it ?

Like how it says "Paramount" on the end ?
You know - "Paramount Healthcare Services" - in the UK !
Qualitas_Plus_D2.jpg.655c8a187dc06715bbc7cbf299fcc04e.jpg

This is the exact same bed.

Yeah - get a brain. Seriously.

I was admitted last year to get minor wrist surgery and they had IVs and tubes stuck everywhere.
Same when I went in for shoulder surgery 6 years ago. Spent 3 days in the hospital with IVs hooked up even though I was concious and walking around and eating. Sheesh, I had 3 small incisions in my shoulder and the amount of bandaging they had on it made me look like a hunchback.

And yes, the local media literally DO report pretty much ANY incident involving a foreigner. Especially one as serious as this, with Russians supposedly arrested as well.

Here's another clue.

LOOK at the guy in the bed.

Now LOOK at the pics of the guy who is in an airport and the one of him under a tree.

Literally the only resemblance is they both have "5 day beards".
The guy in the hospital bed looks 15 years younger than the other guy.

But hey - like I said for the last few stories like this.

Surely some of you live in Phuket and can go to the hospital and take some flowers to the guy ?

From the sounds of it, there should be a dozen Brits in the Phuket hospital right now.

And no - you do not have to be a family member or on a list to go see someone.

And if you try that excuse I'll know your full of it. I've visited people - and had people visit me - and never had anyone turned away or been told there's a "list" of who can or can't visit someone.

Why is his insurance details not kept with his passport?  I carry my passport and private medical insurance details everywhere that I go, and have dog-tags around my neck with these and NoK details in English, Thai, Lao and Burmese!

Rather than stay in an expensive private hospital, perhaps he could move to a government hospital. It is often the same doctors, just a different price.

Then you are perhaps one of the very few people who carry their passport everywhere they go....

The document is far too important to be carrying anywhere outside of the home unless needed.

The Dog-Tags are not a bad idea, but one would look somewhat like a wannabe ex-military fake-valour hunter...

There are two options I have:

- Insurance card in my Wallet.

- ICE on my phone.

The issue with the ICE on the phone is that not many over here are aware of it.

ICE - In Case of Emergency: Without unlocking the phone my Emergency Contact is (i.e. Wife) can be contacted directly (via call).

Has it occurred to anyone that the Russians were on a motorbike on the road and that the Brit was at fault for this accident as the pedestrian?

Brutally racist and one sided this forum.

Brittles have form for a gofundme... maybe the Brittle will get on it to raise funds to pay for the rusky.

Just crossing the road, being in a taxi without seatbelts, being in a tuktuk that has an accident etc etc...  stepping in a pothole in the pavement (sidewalk), getting electrocuted by a light pole etc etc - the list is endless due to slack safety standards...

Don’t forget drivers looking at their phones, wearing sunglasses with dark tint and speeding.

Yes....    but I'm more surprised with you not showing any unhinged bias - perhaps because no Thai was involved you can't automatically blame a foreigner... :whistling:

Though - was this at a pedestrian crossing ?

Did the Brit step out without looking, or was the Russian speeding and riding illegally ?

From the story (unless I've missed something) its impossible to know who is at fault

Us Brits help each other in times of need, which is one of the reasons we are so great (Great Britain) and why you speak English.

Russians not so much.

Nope... you were never clever enough to interpret your own poll...

.. It only counted those who could be bothered to respond - not all forum members...  Most contributors would have just ignored the idiotic poll in the first place...

....  Additionally, the questions in your poll were also fundamentally flawed leading to flawed results ("have you ever had a drink and driven?" is quite a different question from "do you drink drive?"...)

But....  go ahead and justify that its ok being an ayhole drink driver because you think lots of others are.

Perhaps you are different in person - but on this forum you are one of the nastiest negative anti-brits I who posts....

I can't imagine you lifting a finger for any Brit, any foreigner for that matter....

Though you have just stood up against vapid bigotry targeted against Russians, which is rather surprising - a glimmer of a redeeming feature - the slightest hope for you yet Malky.....

Says the guy who calls his police friends to get his friends off drink driving charges.

I would never trust anyone who claims to have police friends. Snitches get stitches.
