robz Posted March 22 Posted March 22 I have a serious issue with Lazada. My account was frozen after I accidentally logged in via VPN on their website. Up until then, I had always logged in using my email address. After that incident, I was prompted to unlock the account using the Lazada app, but I never received any code or notification. I then tried, via the mobile app, to have a verification code sent to my phone number, but the app told me it was a different account. When I contacted customer support, they told me my account would be suspended for 45 days. Later, I called again and insisted on a quicker resolution. I was promised that my account would be unlocked within two days, but nothing happened. I place orders worth several hundred thousand Baht per year on Lazada. If it weren’t for the 30,000 Baht stuck in my wallet, I would already have switched to other platforms like Shopee, Noc-Noc, and others — which, in my experience, tend to have fewer fraudulent sellers anyway. Currently, Lazada allows sellers to list hard-to-find Nvidia gaming graphics cards even though they cannot actually supply them. These shops effectively receive an interest-free loan from the many pending orders, which is how my wallet balance came about — I had requested a refund after one of those orders failed. Should I consider involving a lawyer to recover the funds that are still stuck in my Lazada Wallet?

Lazada keeps the money until item delivered, not the shops. If you're daft enough to pay in advance.

Seems they were protecting you from a possible scammer, a lawyer will cost you money, think I would just keep badgering them to open your account.. 1 1 1 1
robz Posted March 22 Author Posted March 22 The problem is that Lazada's promise to unlock the account appears to be worthless. I also tried to contact the Data Protection Officer, which companies like this are required to have, but I was only redirected to the AI chat and asked to log in — which of course I can’t do because my account is locked. Normally, the Data Protection Officer must be directly reachable. Consumer rights in Thailand are generally quite weak. Does anyone have experience with whether involving a lawyer is effective in such cases?

LosLobo Posted March 22 Posted March 22 I always log in to Lazada via a VPN, it's part of my virus protection software.

robz Posted March 22 Author Posted March 22 Lazada sent me an email: "May we inform you that initially from the investigation, due to the irregularity found in your account, Lazada cannot re-activate the account." I now have no other choice but to consult a lawyer.
