Pls Recommend Skin Cancer Clinic...Thanks!!

Hi  All...My GP in NZ sent me to a EMT specialist to look at a lesion on my ear...he claimed it looked like a form of skin cancer, in particular, basal cell carcinoma☹️,  and set me up with an appointment for a biopsy 4 months down the road...can you believe that!!!...anyways, i'm here in Thailand for the next 6 months and want to deal with it now...I would really appreciate if anyone on this forum could recommend a clinic or Dr...btw, i'm in Udon Thani and willing to travel to BKK, no problem😃

A friend was quoted 16k for a biopsy at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, I'd consider trying the cream first, 250 baht

Biopsy can be made in any big hospital in TH, they send it to bangkok, result in a few days, price between 5000-10000 Baht.  

Also turmeric powder (e.g. mixed with a skin cream) seems to work: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9110126/

It's available in every pharmacy (Khamin Chan).

 

With turmeric, the only problem is the yellow color that stains everything.

thank you Sheryl for mentioning, you are always well informed. I have been there several times with skin issues. Very good treatment, no long waiting times, professional doctors. It appears to be a training institute for young doctors, but the professor reviews the suggestest treatment. It is located near the Anusawari traffic circle. For treatment got to 8th or 9th floor. It is a government institute and hence the prices are very moderate. I looked at the website in the past but it seemed a daunting procedure for a poor Thai speaker to get treated  from booking appointment to finally getting treated. 

Did you just go to floor 8?

My husband had a basal cell on the edge of the ear. They didn't do a biopsy (BNH) but treated with liquid nitrogen. It was clear for 3 yrs till it came back. He saw several specialists in TH & Europe over about 8 yrs & all just continued with freezing when it resurfaced. To surgically remove it would have meant to cut part of the ear off. 

Ear isn't a good location for surgery. 

Samitivej Sukhumvit has a doc (Dr. Panitha?) who does a lot of foreigners with basal cell.

I had a lesion removed from my ear about 18 months ago at Bang Saen hospital, lab report showed it as being BCC. I saw the plastic surgeon in the morning and he cut it out in the afternoon, speaks good English and did an excellent job, cost 13K.

Saw him every 3 months for a year and then a 12 month appointment.

Taiwan has excellent medical care, and provides medical care in a way that is affordable to all.

Probably, Taiwan is an example to the world as to what medical care actually should be in developed nations.

 

Without insurance, the cost will not be free.

 

However, it will be far lower than many other places around the world.

 

In addition, many/most of the doctors at NTUH are very capable.

 

I would say that NTUH might be the place to go for lower cost and excellent health care.

 

Perhaps, HK might be better in some specialties.

However, if you get the right doctor at NTUH, then one could definitely do far worse.

 

Getting to the hospital is easy.

Just a short plane ride, and then a taxi.

 

Or, of course, just go to the hospital in LinKou....perhaps....

 

Both are excellent medical centers....

 

And, I guess, everyone remember WANG-YOUG-QING, the billionaire who set-up the hospital, as I recall.

 

The patient rooms are spartan.

I prefer Taiwan University Hospital.

 

The incidence of skin cancer, melanoma, is quite low in Taiwan.

Therefore.....who knows.....?

Bumrungrad in Bkk has an excellent dermatology center, I speak from experience. Not cheap but very good.

I have had numerous basal cell carcanomas excised so consider myself a fair expert. Liquid nitrogen is only effective for keratosis, pre-cancerous lesions. Surgery is required to confirm entire excision of affected tissue.

Most of the Bangkok Hospital chain have dermatology units, I use the Bangkok Samui for my events.

His name is Dr. Paritas Sukriket, and he is my favorite dermatologist in Thailand. In fact he's the only one I really trust. I have been seeing him once or twice a year for decades.
