A 36-year-old man has been arrested after evading capture for nearly a decade following an attempted murder charge linked to a business dispute in the bottled water industry.

On 26 March, officers from the Crime Suppression Division, led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Wittaya Sriprasertphap, ordered the arrest of SomSak Panprasong, also known as Toon, aged 36. He was apprehended at a house in Moo 1, Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi province.

SomSak had been wanted under an arrest warrant issued by Pattaya Provincial Court (No. 324/2016) on 9 December 2016, for charges including:

• Attempted murder

• Illegal possession of firearms and ammunition

• Carrying a firearm in public

• Property damage

The case dates back to January 2012, when SomSak allegedly fired gunshots into a rival’s home while the victim and their family were inside. Authorities from Bang Lamung Police Station arrested him, and the Pattaya Provincial Court later sentenced him to 14 years and 4 months in prison without suspension. However, SomSak failed to appear for sentencing and had been on the run ever since.

During questioning, SomSak claimed his older brother, who operated a bottled water factory, had a long-standing business dispute with a competitor. He alleged that the conflict escalated, resulting in a shooting incident, but insisted he had no involvement in the attack.

Authorities have transferred SomSak to Bang Lamung Police Station for further legal proceedings.
