If Thailand were to open it's first Casino, would you pay a visit?

100%?

If a Thai casino operated on a Lose-Lose policy it would be counterintuitive - people have to win sometimes at Casino's or they wouldn't go in the first place, would they?

Where on earth did you pull that figure from?

The Don.

Casino's are not there for you to win, they are there to make money for the owners.

No way. Why would you put your money into something is is 100% you will lose? Maybe a fool would but any reasonable person wouldn't.

That is the consensus of the uneducated public.  However, almost every casino game can legally be beaten under specific circumstances.  The circumstances usually include staff errors, overly generous promotions intended to increase volume, progressive jackpots and statutory obligations to give away funds.  The last two are complicated to explain, so I won't.  I'll just say that Nevada gaming regulations often protect the gambler from overly stingy casinos.

Having said that, the Nevada casinos where I made my living for 25 years are very competitive so they generally offer better odds than casinos with little competition.  I think any casino in Thailand will only offer the poorest odds that they can get away with.  Also, the player will probably not be as protected as in Nevada.

Name one in the last 10 years that was significantly beaten?

But people do win sometimes, don't they???

So your 100% figure is absolute BS.

If that turns out to be the case then they will be forced to close within 5 years.

People aren't stupid - if the house fixes the odds in favor of themselves too much then the punters will catch on and go elsewhere.

LOL   no casino wins 100%.  Why should they do that?  In the long run, most gamblers will lose enough for the casino to show a tidy profit.

Not sure what answer you want.  Currently I only have summary by casino over the entirety of my career.  I've also been retired for 5+ years.

Beaten by me?  Beaten only by me?  Beaten by most of the other professional gamblers as well?  Of course the other pros rarely shared their profit/loss info with me.

Being of an analytical mind I kept very detailed records of game I played, what casino, what date and the results.  I use spreadsheets to analyze by game, by casino.... so I can give detailed answers.

My top 5 best results were:  Gold Coast, Sam's Town, South Point, Palms and Treasure Island.

My wife's (also a pro) were:  Mandalay Bay, Palms, Orleans, Green Valley Ranch and Sam's Town

My worst: John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks, NV  and the wife's worst : MGM

If you know Vegas casinos you'll notice that results were much better at 'locals' casinos.

Any kind of gambling is for losers - actually!

Only take what you can afford.

My $500 could be $5,000 by the end of the night..

Would I still be considered a loser then?

My comment is a generalisation - not intending to be personal. In any event winning anything tonight can be lost again tomorrow.

The "loser" element relates to the general level of gambling in which just about most people DO end up losing!

I would go if they had a poker table (I mean real poker, not poker where you play against the bank), and it had a low rake.

There is a lack of poker in southeast Asia. The nearest reputable poker establishment is Nagaworld. There are also some dodgy places but I don't want to go near them.

There are a lot of fishy players (think of all the ASEANnow posters) in Asia making it an ideal place to enjoy myself.

I wish the Thai government could be convinced that poker is really a game of skill and they would no longer banish it as a form of gambling.

I know at least one AN poster who isn't fishy..... LOL

In another life I worked in the hotel/gaming industry in Macau. I've seen how it works from the inside. I never once placed even a single pataca on the table. Only fools and criminals gamble. If Thailand goes the same route as Macau, it will ruin countless lives and make the mafia certain billionaires even more powerful.

Nope. Find gambling and cards boring as hell . Went to Vegas for 5 days and put about $50 into a slot machine and that was all the gambling I done . If I could have got someone to sit pressing the start button on the machine over and over until the $50 dollars were done I would have.

Do not assume free alcohol.  Not all casinos offer free adult beverages.  I really can't see in LOS free alcohol just for entering a casino.

For me the answer would be a resounding yes.

However, for my $500 in my white envelope (currently 17,000 THB) - I would definitely expect free drinks all night whilst I'm playing, just as they do in Vegas.

If they can't satisfy that basic requirement then I don't think I would bother....

For what? To watch all the losers??😳

Smart casinos do allow customers to win.... but the win is due to the mathematical variance inherent in any form of gambling.  The long term result for the recreational gambler is negative.  The casino almost always has a mathematical advantage that will earn a profit for them.

Your understanding of casinos is severely lacking.

I have been to casinos that charge for alcohol even if one is playing. Several in the US and one in S. Korea.  So free alcohol is not available at all casinos even if one is playing.

Whats your point? I don't know a single person who likes you or any of your posts.

The Don.

Don't take that badly @theshu25, after all, Bob's ( sorry I mean "The Don's") circle of acquaintances is limited to assorted restaurant and bar owners who have thrown him out, white skinned flat stomached "escorts" who are prepared to indulge him with group sex, and of course his conquests amongst ladyboys!
