i think you should have aimed your fence  - at his meat and 2 veg....and just say you were trying to help with his transition..

Unfortunately they were fencing "foil", so that would have been out of the target scoring area, if however they had been fencing epee, or sabre, that would have been allowed.

I used to fence, I once got through to the final round of the British Army competition (more by good luck than good judgement - my Regiments team had a couple of very good fencers, I wasn't one). I was drawn against a tall languid sort of chap who was in the running for the UK Olympic Squad - shortest bout ever but I did get praise for trying from the judges!

It is certainly not a sport for "Nancies"! But a woman against a man is always going to be an unfair match.

I agree  with your statement regarding a man's naturally superior physical attributes,re' physical endurance and brutality. I don't agree with your assertion that women have less 'talent'.

Men have more power to apply their talents.

Intersting post.

In some sports, having power, having stamina, having quick reflexes; etc is a good thing.

Others require other attributes. Chess for example. Snooker. Darts. Poker. Horse riding. All need different skills.

Women should simply refuse to compete against men.  Once the sport loses enough income and sponsors, then it will return to a 'women's sporting event'.  Not a "Uni sex event".

Kudos to the gal for standing up for what is 'right'.  Sucks all those years of practice & competing fairly wasted now.

Exactly.

If every woman did this it would stop overnight.

Trouble is we have the Megan Rapinoe's of this world letting the side down.

The whole take a knee thing is a bit contrived. She knew doing that would get her on the news show circuit. If she is lucky she can turn this into a career like Riley Gaines. I don't find it all that 'courageous". Now what would be courageous is fencing a dude.

More power, but maybe less agility? Isn't agility more important in a sport like fencing?

It's a dude fencing a chick. It isn't Superman vs. Wonder woman. So you think agility is really going to matter when a dude stands 6'2" and the woman is 5'8" and the man has a wingspan much larger than hers. I also don't think a woman is more agile. Watch couples in figure skating I don't think you can make a case for that.
