In a gripping episode in Tha Sala district, a key drug dealer in the local trade was apprehended following a high-stakes pursuit yesterday. Police Colonel Thawatchai Sangkhamitkon, responding to reports of drug activity on April 8, spearheaded the operation with Police Lieutenant Colonel Somchai Muaydee and Police Lieutenant Colonel Theerapol Phumchai at the forefront.

 

The operation homed in on a suspect’s residence near a canal in Mueang Tha Sala. Upon their arrival, officers discovered 17 methamphetamine pills and a digital scale, key evidence pointing to illicit activities. However, the situation escalated when the suspect violently resisted arrest, wielding a knife and attempting to stab the officers as he made his escape into the canal.

 

 

 

In the ensuing chase, Pol. Lt. Col. Theerapol took to the water alongside additional police and rescue personnel, determined to capture the fleeing suspect. Despite sustaining a foot injury in the canal, his efforts culminated in the suspect's capture, who was subsequently identified as Watcharapong—a figure of considerable interest in the drug trafficking sphere.

 

Watcharapong faces charges of possessing methamphetamine with the intent to sell, and he has been remanded to Tha Sala Police Station for further interrogation. This arrest not only takes a significant player off the streets but also demonstrates the unwavering resolve of local enforcement in combating the drug trade, reported The Thaiger.
