When someone throws water on you during Thai New Year, how do you react?

Never happens ... choose your routes carefully.

Just road E-MB to the park and not 1 person throwing water.  Actually surprised, as smaller roads, and only went that way, as main Hwy 4 / 326 intersection is too time consumer during Songkran weekend.

Alternate route goes under Hwy 4, if on MB only.

Actually, I did retaliate -- let's just put it that I was able to start the motor bike and ride away before they realized what I had done.

You poisoned them???

These folks were not the usual locals at a late nite/early morning drinking. Let's just say that being a high-end group, when I came back at them bloody and wet with a bucket, when they ran away they left behind some high-end stuff that shouldn't get wet but that got very wet.

I don't like it because I know for a fact some people piss in the water they throw.

I load my squirter with 100% urine.

takes a lot of beers to keep it filled.

Nobody has ever thrown water on me.

I have no idea how to react to this.

Locals have blessed me with water.

And, I found the experience most touching, almost ethereal.

And, I gave thanks.

I just got splashed big time. My phone got wet.

Some people enjoy the victory of getting other people drenched.

I bought a tiny hand gun. I'm going back out there for round two.

Thais like it when you get involved. There is a sense of camaraderie and people always laugh when you spray them. It's good fun.

To be honest with you I always hated Songkran.

The whole idea of wasting water at a time when it's needed most is absolutely abhorrent to me, it is ignorant beyond belief but that's the Thais for you...

Anyway, personally I never took part, but I did get unintentionally soaked a few times when I had to go out to buy some essentials.

My reaction was always the same : The middle finger and a nice firm 'F off!...'

I am NOT Thai, and couldn't give a hoot about your childish new year celebrations.

The Don.

No, you write childish comments instead.

You got to suck it up.

We all know what to expect.

It's a celebration.

Dislikes are

- foreigners on Soi Buakhou with their high pressure pumps

- idiots who put ice in water buckets

Squirt guns are one thing. Entire buckets of water are something else again. There's not much sense in complaining about the water festival. It will gp on, regardless.

The people throwing buckets of water should stop.  It's not funny, and it certainly isn't fun for anyone who gets soaked, especially if they're not expecting it.  One time I was in a baht bus riding from Pattaya to Jomtien.  I wasn't really expecting to get drenched enroute, and I wasn't dressed for the occasion.  And then the baht bus stopped for a traffic light and some Thai girl threw an entire bucket of water right into the baht bus.  I was at least partially soaked, and a few of the other people on the bus were clearly not dressed for the occasion.  Another time, something similar happened, but I was on foot and I thought I was away from it all. No such luck.

As I observe them preparing to throw water,  I politely but firmly announce:

"Bob Smith is coming, wait for him."

Can't believe I didn't check who was the OP before I clicked on it.  Anti Thai trolling rubbish.

Since you are a resident of Japan, who only visited Thailand for a wedding a couple of weeks ago, why are you bothered?

Or are you asking on behalf of friends - Bob Smith and Lewie London perhaps?
