Investing for safe returns

Featured Replies

My TGF (Thai citizen and resident) has a well-paying professional job, and (like many others) is concerned about how to safely invest her savings. My opinion is that the share market is too volatile at the moment; she is looking for other options that pay a useful return. An example is a Thai REIT.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks.

Thai condos can generate a 6-8% return. However, they need careful research.

I would not consider buying a condo in Bangkok.

The best return I thailand  is government tax refund.

She should marry you and claim you as dependant. That is what my wife did.

You say she is Thai , doesn't she have gold already like many Thai ?

Best and liquid investment.

She can invest in a long term stock mutual fund and deduct this in the personal income tax calculation. Tax-Saving Funds (RMF/Thai ESG)

what country are you from?

what are the GIC rates in banks in your country?

it won't be more than 5% probably ....but they're safe investments insured by the govt.

Gold is not an investment, it's a currency hedge. Investments give a regular income, gold only makes a profit ( or loss ) when sold.

Mind you, I can remember a time when I held ten baht of Thai gold, cost 180,000 baht. Sold out at 260,000 baht.

Yesterday, that same ten baht was listed at 510,000 baht.

A zero bond is an investment but doesn't give a regular income.

Stocks that don't pay out profit , don't give a regular income.

Is a 2-4 % interest payment per year a good investment ? Even when inflation is at that same level or even higher?

There are days gold goes up 1 or 2 % . Yes until I sell and lock the profit in, there is no return.

At least the money is not in the hands of bankers.
