Police officers in Bangkok successfully subdued a man in a state of frenzy who was attacking residents and damaging property with a four-foot metal bar. The incident took place on the afternoon of April 15 near Soi Lat Phrao 136, extending towards Soi Lat Phrao 132, in the Bang Kapi district.

Pol Col Thanaphan Phadungkan, Superintendent of Lat Phrao Police Station, dispatched patrol units to the scene following emergency calls from alarmed locals. According to witnesses, the suspect was a slim, long-haired man, shirtless and wearing green shorts. He was reported to be shouting incoherently, smashing walls and property, and threatening passers-by with the iron bar.

Upon arrival, officers attempted to calm the man and instruct him to drop the weapon. However, he refused to comply and moved aggressively toward them. As the situation escalated, and concerned for public safety, police initially attempted to restrain him using a control pole. The man, however, climbed over a wall in an attempt to enter a residential property and continued to brandish the weapon.

Faced with the risk of harm to civilians and officers, the team deployed a Taser, striking the man in the waist and left leg. He was successfully subdued in the car park of Wat Klang and taken into custody.

The suspect was transported to Lat Phrao Police Station where he faces preliminary charges of causing a public disturbance and creating a nuisance. He will be further investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

First time I have heard of a taser being used in Thailand, wasn't sure they even had them here.
