A new Boeing jet meant for a Chinese airline reportedly returned to the U.S. because of the ongoing trade war

  • Boeing jet at the company’s completion plant in China flew back to the U.S. on Friday, according to reports. The new plane was supposed to be delivered to a Chinese airline, however, it was never handed over. Earlier this week, the Chinese government reportedly told airlines not to buy new jets from Boeing and to get permission before accepting any planes it had already ordered but hadn’t been delivered yet.

A brand-new Boeing jet is caught up in the trade war between China and the U.S.

Not brand new anymore. How complete are these aircraft? Do they have fitted out cabins, Contrary to the photo, the 3 planes that have come back were built for Xiamen Airways. From what I can gather, Zhoushan completes the livery and interiors. I assume most of the cabin wiring is done in the US, and in China they are bolting in seats, laying carpet, hooking up entertainment systems, all in Chinese.

These were built with business and economy class cabins, so zero interest from Ryan Air unless a big discount, as they will likely need complete rework. Ryaqn Air, and other similar airlines don't do business class.

Too Big Too Fail.

But its not just Boeing. There is a huge supply chain. This supply chain impacts other industries. For instance, a well known US medtec manufacturer uses an aerospace parts supplier to also carry out assembly of some of its key products. If that company goes under, that Medtec company no longer has a CMO. And they can't just pick up the proverbial yellow pages and find another. They have to find someone else who does medtec, and has capacity. They need a lot of work transferring production. The FDA has to reapprove their product before it can even be sold.

I doubt the Chinese planes will be self destructing. Unlike the original ones.

so?   what's your point ?  yes it's a Chinese aircraft made alot cheaper than in the US.  When they start falling outta the sky's then I'll come back and chat,  but for now it's a cheaper product and the US can NEVER complete.

Your WAGES and costs are way toooooooooooo high.   Countries WILL buy China aircraft ...  just watch & learn.

Boeing has been in trouble recently way before Trump was elected.  Actually did very good during

Trump 1, till covid hit.

GREAT....!!!!!

We should have NEVER allowed AirBus or Boeing to set up production facilities in COMMIE CHINA....NO WAY, Jose....!!!

This was the very STUPIDEST move of the past 4 decades.

Let them, the ChiComs, import airlines from the SovietUnion, now Russia.

The Russians, anyway, have the very best tech...as the ChiComs do know.

What a DISASTER.....!!!!!!!!!!!

It's almost as if the West were, has been, trying to nurture Authoritarian Regimes in East Asia....

What a complete JOKE and Disaster.

The plane is made in USA. The paint job and seats are added in China. I assume you have been in a coma for 30 years and just woken, so understandably you have no idea what the Comac C919 is.

I can only presume that you have forgotten the debate about what parts of Boeing Aircraft could be legally produced in China.

Anyway, back in the day, I do recall the discussion.

For example....WINGS....

Do I need to look this up for you...on the internet?

This was some time ago...and I recall the debate...pretty well.

IF I am mistaken, then I do apologize to you, and all on TV.

Boeing manufactures its aircraft wings primarily at the Everett Factory in Everett, Washington. Specifically, the Boeing 777X Wing Plant in Everett is a dedicated facility for building large composite wings for the 777X family. While some components are sourced from other locations, the majority of Boeing's wing assembly takes place at the Everett facility.

...the planemaker's flagship delivery plant outside Shanghai ....

...

Another arrived last week at Zhoushan, where Boeing installs interiors and paints liveries before handing over to customers,

China can buy Airbus. It's safer than Boeing anyway.

China makes BYD electric cars that are cheaper and better quality than Teslas. What makes you think they can't do the same with aircraft?

IIRC Americans used to think they made the best cars, then the Japanese showed them how wrong they were.

China has 48,000 km of high speed rail. The US has 80 km. QED.

BYD you say? Any potential issues with self combusting planes?

In reference to 737 Max;

The Boeing 737 Completion and Delivery Center is located in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, China.

The completion center is a joint venture between Boeing and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC).

Employees at this facility will install interiors and paint liveries for 737 MAX airplanes bound for Chinese airlines customers.

Once completed, the airplanes will be handed over from a separate, Boeing-owned delivery center.
