If the plan is to get deported then by all means, make videos of cops in Thailand that portray them in a bad way!

Also, if you don't know what you want to vlog about then how is this endeavor ever supposed to be successful?!

Making it on youtube is pretty, tough, these days.

The one thing a lot of people seem to like are pranks. You could do that with your better half, if you have one, or a buddy.

My recommendation is, to find one thing you like yourself and just keep doing it and upload regularly. If you're lucky one of your videos goes viral and that could be the beginning of your channel taking off. But even then, it's most likely not gonna happen and if it does, it's most likely gonna take years and years before you can live off it. There's also a ton of rules you have to comply with in order to get monetized.

If you live in Thailand there's so many things to film. And yeah, there's a lot of travel channels, but it could be Thailand through your eyes, the off-beaten path. Show them the places YOU like, places tourists normally don't get to see because they stick usually to the known attractions. Do your research on these places, mention the information in the vlog and pair that with nice videography and some relaxing music.

You also have the option to just record your opinion on current affairs, if that's your thing. Have a discussion about Trump with a buddy that has an opposing opinion to yours. It wouldn't even have to be politics or exclusively politics, just whatever is going on in the world at the time. You could do that on top of travel vlogs ir literally anything else. The world is your oyster, man!

Finally, if you want to upload once a week for example, be prepared for this to turn into a full time job because you'll have to edit the videos and that takes forever! Especially, if you choose longer format videos over short format.

In regards to equipment, yes  you can use your phone to record, a lot of people do, but if you want to film when it's dark also, you need a light, and you will definitely need a computer and lots of external hard drives, especially when you want to film in 4K. There's tons of videos on vlogging equipment on youtube.

One more idea, just go and interview expats on what made them move here, what their lives are like here now and how they feel about living in Thailand,  what the up-and downsides are. You could even develop a questionnaire and ask everyone the same questions, like Lipton did at the end of the Inside the Actors studio episodes, and don't be shy to put in some silly questions as well that will get funny responses .

I have been up all night watching YouTube videos on how to be a YouTuber but I can't understand it

Will my  iPhone be ok to record videos?

What ideas can a single man my age still working full time come up with.

There are too many travel videos

I'm thinking of a good gimmick to "differentiate" from the others

I wish now I had taken a video of the Lopburi police not taking my assault seriously and claim they couldn't find the offender when they finally sent a car out

What can I YouTube on ?

What do you like watching ???

Not sure if you're serious or just throwing ideas out there, but I’ll give you my 2 cents anyway since that’s what I do for a living (I run a digital marketing agency and have a few clients doing YouTube and online stuff full-time).

First off — yes, your iPhone is totally fine.
You don’t need a fancy camera. Plenty of successful creators shoot everything with just their phone and a cheap tripod or selfie stick. Focus on the content, not the gear.

As for ideas — honestly, just be yourself.
Don’t try to guess what people wanna see. Think about what you would actually enjoy making. That way it comes out more real, more fun, and people can tell when it’s genuine.

You mentioned being a single guy working full time, that's actually a good angle. There’s a whole audience out there that relates to that. You could document everyday life in Thailand from your perspective. Stuff like your experience with the police in Lopburi? That’s gold. People love real stories.

And yeah, there’s a lot of travel videos, but not a lot of you. Add your own spin, humor, opinions, struggles. That’s what makes it stand out.

Also, YouTube probably won’t be where you make most of your money.
Sounds weird, but most creators make the bulk of their income from:

  • Sponsorships

  • Merch

  • Patreon

  • Coaching / courses / collabs

I’ve got a client who did $90k USD last month and 70% of that came from a single sponsorship and one collab. So yeah, build the channel, but also build the brand around it.

Check out @RetiredWorkingForYou
He started posting in Koh Samui during COVID (Around June 2020 if I remember correctly) and now he’s got:

  • 270k+ subs

  • 40M+ views

  • His own merch, Patreon, Retreats, etc.
He basically turned his daily life into a full-time gig. Just by showing up and being himself.

Anyway, if you’ve got more questions or wanna bounce ideas around, feel free to DM me. Always happy to help.

this is pretty funny.

he's making a video about expats sitting in bars in pattaya and explains why they're losers.

ha ha .....

maybe you can do sth like that too.

It's just a boring, repetitive video blowing his trumpet and calling everyone who drinks in beer bars on the beach losers.

No content, just repetition and loves the sound of his voice.

If that's his best effort, he needs to quit YouTube.

He has nothing interesting to say and no originality.

I think later on in the video, he strikes me as ' under the influence '

The people that succeed on Youtube create several channels and try out several ideas until they have found a channel that works, that they get more subscribers to.
It's not easy these days, should have started some years ago. Now too many channels and most of them are crap.

And if AI takes over it will be even worse.
