2.5 Baht per minute calls to U.S.A.?

The page https://www.ais.th/en/consumers/package/international/international-call/00500 shows the rate of 2.5 Baht per minute for calls to the US for AIS Postpaid customers. Has anyone used that service? Does one need to apply before using it?

I used it years ago - Just dial the 00500 before your outgoing call to get the rate. 

 

FYI - 2.5 baht/minute is 7.5 cents, which isn't a good deal. I use Yolla, which is 1 cent per minute. Yolla lets me set my caller ID for my USA number so the banks recognize my incoming calls.

Use WattsApp, LINE etc.  They're free and many banks have LINE accounts now although they don't advertise that fact.

Yolla is great. Especially to landlines 0.01aud a minute.

How do you call a landline or mobile on LINE and WhatsApp?  Not uncommon for elderly family members to not even have a smart phone, PC, or internet.

It's $0.0195AUD a minute, so close to double the price you claim.  Perfectly fine for the casual user, but for the more frequent user, a provider that offers a subscription with unlimited minutes is better. 

 

Also, Viber has the free video and voice calls, the same as Skype.

Depending on where you call home there are Many VOIP services that can reduce your phone bill by a lot. I have one in the US and it costs $$8.95 a month including 500 minutes of out going calls to anywhere in the USA and unlimited incoming calls from the USA so I have my US phone number and my Thai number. Just an option.
