Which - given that California has 40M people and Japan 123M - is astonishing.

Japan still suffering the effects of 30 years of economic doldrums from which it does seem to be slowly emerging, though still struggling with aging population effects.

As for California one might conceive of a day when the Far West secedes from Trump's Middle America ...

Or secede and join Canada along with Oregon and Washington state lol 😂 holy cow imagine that for a minute!there’s alot to consider no more federal taxes going to support failed red states healthcare and a woman’s autonomy over her own body…..a functioning government……lmao !!!the Canadians would be delighted to have a warm province to hang out! Lmao 🤣 anyway on a serious note we Californians and our state government must be doing something right!to bad we missed the boat on this last election we could have had those people in the White House…….instead we have trump and the clowns……sad tragic not only for us Americans but the rest of the world’s people.

It's because Japan is in decline. They may have 120 million people but 100 million of them are like 100 years old. California isn't going up so much as Japan is going down. Germany will probably been best to sink to that level.

Sadly, you may well be right. The golden age for 'Westerners' & their friends is over, everywhere. We need to get used to the rise of China and its bullying tactics - ruthless even by Usofan standards.
