Taking the micky out of Catholics or Christians is easy, but for a real test of balls try taking the piss out of Islam. So if Trump dressed up as an Imam or the Prophet Muhammad, that would be really something. Be fun to see a fatwa on him too.

Waiting for his next one, the Prophet Trump wearing a beard, accompanied by a 7 year old girl and a goat; a DIY Mohammed kit - not that this would upset anyone in this free speech world

He possibly prefers them a little older, but we won't really know for sure until he releases the Epstein Files.

Who cares what the Catholic church?

All the Catholic voters that voted for Trump after Kamala dissed them by not attending their traditional charity dinner.

I mentioned in another thread that Trump probably could get away with saying his is more popular than Jezus.

Looks like he went too far with this one.

Kind of how John Lennon destroyed the Beatles.

The Catholic church always has had a lot of political influence, not my kind of thing but Donny is very good at making new enemies.

To the people who said it is a joke?

You are the joke and will soon be laughed at.

In mid-2000, Giuffre met Ghislaine Maxwell when working as a spa attendant at Donald Trump's private Mar-a-Lago club while reading a book about massage therapy

Epstein was a good friend of Trump.

May she rest in peace

You just don't understand Trump.  He's not being serious about the Pope thing.  What he is doing is making fun of all the people who actually think otherwise .

And given that there are 60 odd million of them in the USA, rather a silly thing to do!

Not a big enough area. You'd need part of Rome ... oh, hold on ... Some of those buildings are +/-2000 years old. About time they were demolished.

Trump's response to the question by a Fox reporter:

“Some Catholics are not so happy about the image of you as the Pope,” Heinrich began before Trump interjected.

“Ohh, I see. You mean, they can’t take a joke? You don’t mean the Catholics, you mean the fake news media. The Catholics loved it,” Trump replied. “I had nothing to do with it. Somebody made up an image of me dressed up as the Pope, and they put it on the Internet.”

“Maybe it was AI…I just saw it last evening. Actually, my wife thought it was cute, isn’t that nice?” he added. “Actually, I would not be able to be married, though…To the best of my knowledge, popes are not big on getting married, are they? I think it’s the fake news media, they’re fakers.”

What do they say?  ....you if you can't take a joke.

As ever, one doesn't have to look far to glimpse irony in Trump's social media antics. Consider two offences effectively made obsolete by modern democratic practices: treason and blasphemy.

Criticism or protest at this regime are met by howls about treason from many of Trump's supporters, howls reminiscent of Ian Paisley's Ulster frothing in the 1970s and 1980s!

Blasphemy - oh you don't understand him, he is merely trolling!

Just two questions to be asked:

1) What was the upside of this joke?

2) What was the downside?

It wasn't Trump's joke.  Somebody on the interwebs did a meme of him dressed as the Pope.

When it came to his attention, he didn't get upset and throw a lefty hissy fit and send the FBI to track down who blasphemed him...  He chuckled and forwarded it to the world.  Proving that he has a sense of humor.

The meme was out there, whether Trump forwarded it or not.  He may as well make some mileage from it.  The only people who took offense are the ones that always take faux offense.  And since you can never please them, screw them if they can't take a joke

Other Trump memes also exist, such as one with him shaking hands with Hitler or dressed like Stalin. Why doesn't he just forward some of them as well, as it's all a joke? He doesn't do so, of course, because, rightly, they're offensive and he doesn't want to be seen as endorsing their message, which is what a White House forwarding does. And, again, all that is aside, as amplifying this meme only has a downside. No upside. He gains nothing from it. Instead, he alienates yet more people who probably voted or back him. It was an act of political stupidity.

Or what’s he trying to hide from view with this latest outrage? he’s up to something.

I could accept that, except there are already so many of his toddler toys thrown out of the crib and cluttering the floor. He's grunting about Canada and Greenland again. Putting tariffs on movies. At one moment saying Iran's nuclear program is okay, the next saying there is no change. Then vague comments about whether or not he'll uphold the Constitution. How can an 80 year old man behave with such a lack of dignity and disdain for the contempt future generations will hold for him?
